This year the Old Chron celebrates its 240th year and hoping against hope that it thoroughly deserves its second Blue Plaque in the High Street - for some years the decision of what deserves a BP was in the hands of CCC, but a few month ago the BP org decided to call the decision making in house so lets hope the oldest newspaper (1764) in the county - older than The Times succeeds . . .

Memories are made of this - now only one of the Three Lions remain - Chelmsford's pride and joy, our schoolboy Geoff Hurst. So much to say, but here's a brief - Sir Geoff MBE was a pupil at Chelmsford's Kings Road and Rainsford Schools. He became famous during his 499 Football League and FA Cup appearances for West Ham, during which he scored 248 goals. The rest is history.
