Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, believes India's Media and Entertainment (M&E) industry is absolutely crucial for boosting the nation's global clout. He argued that in the 21st century, securing a "seat at the global high table" depends less on economic might and more on a country's skill in shaping its narrative through compelling storytelling.

With India's M&E sector already worth ₹2.5 trillion and expanding fast—reaching over 800 million people daily and sending stories to more than 200 countries—the potential is immense. Mr. Mahindra's key message to the industry is to look beyond domestic audiences and create content that truly transcends borders, taking inspiration from global cross-border success stories.

Thanks to everyone who joined for this awesome conversation on how Gen Z is shaking up audience behaviour across the Asia Pacific.

Our own Stephen Jenner, Vice President, Communications, Asia Pacific, MPA, led a session that unpacked platform trends across the region, the influence of digital communities, the growing role of creators, and practical ways to integrate audience insights without compromising creative vision.

Commenting on the trends to watch closely in the future, speakers agreed that traditional, legacy entertainment and digital/social media will generate new business models as they collide and intersect, generating new opportunities for emerging filmmakers willing to adapt and connect with diverse audiences.

Huge shoutout to panelists Shuang Hu, Bec Pini, Jackie Keast, Amelia Darmawan, and Steve Jaggi for sharing their expertise and sparking such a dynamic discussion. And big appreciation to the Asia Pacific Screen Awards for curating such an engaging program.
