Honda engineers claim that it is an all new platform, I think they meant that the platform is an newly modified Vezel platform, the battery sticks out of the chassis by more than 3 inches. Look closely at that lump sticking out when you get close to it.

Is Honda aware that the current Honda Fit/ Jazz design is generally thought to be ugly ? Big eyes, short and stout body and a bulging rear end is not exactly pleasant to look at.

IMO, it is not just Honda's ugliest Fit design so far, it is also a vehicle that has no clear USP since its inception with the now famously boring ULTRa seats. Nobody cares about how the rear seats fold anymore. Many owners are annoyed by the creaking sounds from the folding mechanism a few years later.

At its recent facelift, Honda introduced the RS variant to lift its boring exterior design with some sporty bits. Mugen has worked its styling fingers on it and the Fit actually looks not bad now.

A body kit does lift up the appearance of a dowdy looking hatchback.

After Nissan ousted Carlos Ghosn and turned him into a fugitive in 2018, his successors struggled to bring the automotive giant around.

Around 1998, Nissan had a round of similar troubles. The company had too many models built on too many platforms, created by the pockets of engineering power in R&D. By purchasing 36.8% of Nissan, Renault staged a rescue plan and Ghosn was installed as Nissan's first gaijin boss.

Under Ghosn, Nissan never really got out of trouble. In some markets, it seems to be doing well. In Singapore, Nissan never returned to the glory days of the Nissan Sunny. In my memory, the Qashqai and the Xtrail are recent successful models here. Its e-power hybrid technology does look promising in Singapore and in 2023, despite historically high COE premiums, Nissan sales did reasonably well.

TOKYO – Nissan Motor Co.’s struggle to cope with tougher car industry conditions and address weaknesses within its business has spiralled, leaving the automaker with no choice but to slash payroll, production and its forecasts for this fiscal year. Read more at straitstimes.com.
