# “When I told my father I was going to marry Jake he said, ‘If you marry that man you will never set foot in this house again.’⁣

He was horrified that I could contemplate marrying a black man, and I soon learned that most people felt the same way. The first years of our marriage living in Birmingham were hell — I cried every day, and barely ate. No one would speak to us, we couldn’t find anywhere to live because no one would rent to a black man, and we had no money.⁣

People would point at us in the street. Then I gave birth to a stillborn son at eight months. It wasn’t related to the stress I was under but it broke my heart, and we never had any more children.⁣

We were at the same technical college. I was having typing and shorthand lessons and he’d been sent there for training by the Air Force. He was with a group of black friends and they called my friend and me over to talk. We didn’t even know they spoke English, but Jake and I got chatting. He quoted Shakespeare to me, which I loved.⁣

Jake returned to Trinidad, but we carried on writing to each other, and a few years later he returned to the UK to get better paid work.⁣

He asked me to marry him, quite out of the blue, when I was only 19. My father threw me out, and I left with only one small suitcase to my name. No family came to our register office wedding in 1948.⁣

But gradually life became easier. I got teaching jobs, ending up as a deputy head teacher. First Jake worked in a factory, then for the Post Office.⁣
Slowly we made friends together, but it was so hard. I used to say to new friends: ‘Look, I have to tell you this before I invite you to my home — my husband is black.’⁣

Today we have been married for 63 years, and are still very much in love. I do not regret marrying him for an instant, despite all the pain we have suffered.”⁣

Billionaire’s Father Pretends to Be a Gateman to Test His Son’s Wife

Episode 4
A heavy silence fell over the compound. The rain continued to pour, soaking the ground, but no one moved. Amara’s face had turned pale, and Chijioke’s jaw tightened.

"Papa… what do you mean she failed the test?" Chijioke asked, his voice dangerously calm.

Chief Obinna exhaled deeply and turned to face his son.

"For days, I have watched your wife, hoping she would prove me wrong. But instead, she has shown me exactly who she is." He pointed at Amara. "She disrespected me, insulted me, and treated the house staff like they were beneath her. Today was the final straw—she was ready to use Ada as a stepping stone just to avoid a little mud."

Chijioke’s fists clenched. He turned to Amara.

"Is this true?"

Amara’s eyes darted around in panic. She let out a nervous laugh. "Baby, please… don’t listen to this old man. You know how these gatemen like to exaggerate things just to get pity. I was just joking with Ada—"

"Enough!" Chijioke’s voice thundered through the compound.

Amara flinched. She had never seen him this angry before.

"Papa is not just a gateman," Chijioke continued. "He is my father. And even if he wasn’t, no human being deserves to be treated the way you have been treating people behind my back."

Amara’s breath quickened. "Baby, please… you know I love you. Don’t let this little misunderstanding ruin us."

Chief Obinna shook his head.

"You don’t love my son. You love his money."

Tears welled in Amara’s eyes as she grabbed Chijioke’s arm.

"Chi, please! You can’t do this to me. I gave up so much for this marriage! You can’t throw me away just like that!"

Chijioke’s face was unreadable, his mind racing with emotions. He had ignored the warning signs for too long. His heart ached, but he had made his decision.

"Pack your things, Amara." His voice was cold. "I want you out of my house by morning."

Amara gasped. "What?! You’re divorcing me… over a common housemaid?!"

The Fall of the Animal Kingdom

Long, long ago, all animals lived together in harmony. They worked as one, building water reserves, storing food, and securing their homes. To ensure fairness, they agreed that each group of animals would lead for twelve moon seasons before passing leadership to another.

The Hyenas’ Rule

The first leaders were the hyenas. They were feared and respected, but they had a flaw—they were lazy. After feasting, they would sleep for days, ignoring the animals’ concerns. Worse still, if anyone dared to question them, they risked being eaten alive. The animals grumbled but had no choice. They had to wait for the twelve moon seasons to end.

The Monkeys Take Over

When the monkeys came to power, the animals rejoiced. The monkeys were hardworking and friendly, always laughing and jumping around. For the first six moons, things seemed to improve. But soon, the animals noticed a problem. Though their farms were full of healthy crops, the food stores were mysteriously empty. The animals started to starve, yet the monkeys were growing fatter.

One night, the clever kangaroos uncovered the truth—the monkey leaders were secretly stealing food. When the animals confronted them, the monkeys turned violent. They beat anyone who dared to ask questions. Fear spread through the land, but the animals endured, waiting for the next election.

The Rise of the Kangaroos

At last, the monkeys’ time ended, and the animals chose the kangaroos as leaders, remembering their honesty. At first, they ruled with fairness, establishing courts and a system of justice. The animals believed they had found the perfect leaders.

But soon, the kangaroos became obsessed with making laws—laws that restricted movement, laws that silenced complaints, laws that imposed heavy taxes on even the smallest things. Then, they made the most shocking decision: they removed the twelve-moon term and declared themselves rulers for life.

The Great Exodus

The animals could no longer take care

"I want to talk before I d!e" - Kofi Adomah says as he blames Bono people for betraying him after his acc!dent

Revered Ghana blogger and journalist, Kofi Adomah has spoken for the first time after an accident on duty caused damage to his eyes.

Speaking in the midst of his elders and families, Kofi Adomah revealed how sad he felt when Bono people started taking the issue lightly making it seems he was over exaggerating it.

"I want to talk before anything that will happen to happens. I'm in severe pains with my head aching badly but I need to speak out before anything happens," he said.

"If anybody will do this to me, I didn't expect it to come from Bono people," he added.
