15 years ago, Dembélé would post pictures on Facebook — no likes, no comments, no support. No friends, no family, nobody around him… except one.
That one person was Moustapha Diatta. Just 4 or 5 years old at the time, he was Dembélé’s closest friend. They shared everything, including the dream that one day Dembélé would make it in football. 😮
When no one else cared, Moustapha was his rock. He promised him: “We’ll stay friends until I see you at the top, because I know one day you’ll be the best.”
Years later, Dembélé did become one of the best. And when that moment came, both of them broke down in tears as Dembélé, on stage at a ceremony, spoke to the world about their bond and their childhood.
The story of Dembélé and Moustapha is proof of the saying:
“Friendship, as it should be.”
