Jagaban Secures $5 Million United States Dollars Ferry to Boost Sea Transport in Sierra Leone
Guangzhou, China –19 September 2025.
Sheikh Alhaji Mohammed "Omodu" Kamara, popularly known as Jagaban and the leading flagbearer aspirant of the All Peoples Congress (APC), has reaffirmed his commitment to Sierra Leone’s development by securing a state-of-the-art ferry worth $5 million USD from a top manufacturer in China. This move highlights his dedication to improving infrastructure and addressing the real needs of Sierra Leoneans.
The new ferry is intended to transform sea transport between Freetown and Lungi in the Port Loko District — a route that has posed challenges for commuters, travelers, and traders for years. By addressing this long-standing issue, Jagaban offers a practical solution that promises to ease travel difficulties and enhance daily life for thousands.
Equipped with free Wi-Fi, disability access, mobile charging stations, and modern safety features, the ferry will set a new standard for maritime transport in Sierra Leone. More than just a vessel, it symbolizes progress, inclusivity, and national pride, serving people from all walks of life — students, market women, professionals, and tourists alike.
In addition to improving transportation, the project is expected to create hundreds of jobs, particularly for youth and women, while stimulating economic growth. Jagaban’s initiative continues to inspire hope and confidence in a brighter, more connected future for Sierra Leone.
