Bo City and several surrounding communities are expected to experience a temporary electricity outage today as authorities commence major upgrade works on the 66-kilovolt transmission line, a project aimed at improving power supply in southern and eastern Sierra Leone.

The planned interruption is part of efforts to strengthen the country’s connection to the Côte d’Ivoire-Liberia-Sierra Leone-Guinea (CLSG) regional power network and enhance the reliability of electricity distribution across the region.

According to Dr Ing. Edmund Dakona Wuseni, General Project Coordinator for donor-funded projects at the Ministry of Energy, the temporary blackout is necessary to allow engineers to replace ageing transformers and install modern equipment on the transmission network.

The National Public Health Agency (NPHA), with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and funding from the Pandemic Fund, has officially handed over 16 Honda motorbikes to District Medical Officers (DMOs) across Sierra Leone.
The handover ceremony took place at the NPHA Headquarters in Wilberforce and was led by the agency’s Director of Finance and Logistics, Mrs. Mariama G. Bunduka Heimoh. She reaffirmed NPHA’s commitment to strengthening health security and building resilient public health systems nationwide.

👩🏽‍⚕️ As the Democratic Republic of the Congo 🇨🇩 responds to an Ebola outbreak caused by the Bundibugyo virus, WHO has released its *first-ever guidelines covering all Ebola and Marburg viruses* to help health workers provide the best possible care.

⚠️ Ebola is a serious disease, but there is hope. Early supportive care, such as treating dehydration, managing symptoms and providing close medical monitoring, can significantly improve survival.

The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) has started training selected government ministries and agencies on the new e-GP bidding system, a key step in digitising Sierra Leone’s public procurement.

The training forms part of the phased implementation of the national e-GP system, an initiative aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, accountability, and value for money in public procurement across the country. To ensure effective participation and hands-on learning, the pilot MDAs have been divided into two groups. The first group is undergoing training from June 22 to 23, while the second group will participate from June 24 to 25. The intensive sessions are designed to equip participants with the practical skills and knowledge required to manage bid and tender submissions electronically through the Salone e-GP platform.
