Today, I joined thousands of proud and enthusiastic citizens on the vibrant streets of Kenema City today to celebrate the spectacular Bondo and Sande Annual Cultural Procession, an event that continues to highlight the beauty and importance of our rich cultural traditions.
This historic and colorful gathering beautifully showcased the magnificent display of our traditional Sowei masks, reflecting the strength, dignity, resilience, and richness of our cultural identity as a people. It is only women who can come out to celebrate, and the women indeed came out to celebrate with me as a woman who believes in all cultures. The procession was not only a celebration of heritage but also a powerful reminder of the unity and shared values that bind our communities together across generations. The event also demonstrated the important role women continue to play in preserving and promoting our cultural heritage and traditions.
As Sierra Leoneans, we must continue to celebrate, preserve, protect, and proudly pass down our treasured cultural heritage to the next generation, ensuring that our traditions, customs, and values remain alive and respected for many years to come. Our culture is a source of pride and identity, and it is our collective responsibility to safeguard it for the future.
Kenema stood united today in pride, culture, tradition, and solidarity, demonstrating once again the enduring spirit and cultural strength of our people.
