On the 27th of September 2025, I had the distinct honor of joining the North America Madingo Women Association (NAMWA) at their Cultural Dance Meet. As First Lady of the Republic of Sierra Leone and President of OAFLAD, I was deeply moved to be among such vibrant women who continue to preserve and promote our cultural heritage in the diaspora.

My participation was not only a celebration of our rich traditions but also a reaffirmation of my commitment to cultural diplomacy, community engagement, and the empowerment of women across the world. I strongly believe that when women come together in unity and strength, they create pathways for lasting impact in their communities and beyond.

I extend my heartfelt appreciation to NAMWA for their warm welcome and for keeping our culture alive through music, dance, and sisterhood.

The Sierra Leone U-17 women’s team has officially been crowned champions of the WAFU-A tournament.
The team not only won the tournament but also secured individual awards: goalkeeper Hawa Morison was named Best Goalkeeper, while Marian Sankoh earned the Most Valuable Player award. Sierra Leone topped the table with 10 points and 10 goals to claim this historic victory.

I had the pleasure of joining my husband, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio, President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and National Leader of the SLPP, in a meaningful engagement with Sierra Leonean diaspora community leaders.

This important meeting served as a platform to reconnect with our brothers and sisters abroad and to reaffirm the government's commitment to national unity and inclusive development.

It was touching when His Excellency, the President, emphasized that “the diaspora is not just an extension of our nation, but a vital part of our national progress.” He reiterated his administration’s dedication to deepening ties with Sierra Leoneans living abroad, recognizing their immense contributions to our economy, social development, and international image.

As First Lady, I was moved by the passion and patriotism in the room. We discussed key priorities, including investment, youth and women empowerment, and the need to foster stronger collaboration between the diaspora and government institutions.

I left the meeting inspired by the energy and commitment of our diaspora leaders. To every Sierra Leonean abroad: your voice, your ideas, and your love for Sierra Leone matter deeply, and we are grateful for your continued support.
