SIERRA LEONE U-17 TEAM DEPARTS MALI FOR SIERRA LEONE VIA GUINEA

The Sierra Leone National U-17 team (Sierra Stars) on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, departed Mali aboard ASKY Airlines en route to Guinea, from where they will continue their journey to Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The team’s departure follows their participation in the ongoing WAFU-A U-17 Tournament, where they exited at the group stage after earning just one point from three matches in Group B.

Leading the delegation is Mohamed Sorie Jalloh, an Executive Committee Member of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), whose leadership throughout the tournament has been exceptional.

Leone Stars arrived safely in Freetown from Morocco on Tuesday morning after beating Djibouti 2-1 in their final World Cup qualifying match in Casablanca.

The team returns home with renewed confidence as they shift focus to preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and other upcoming international competitions.

Sierra Leone concluded their World Cup qualifying campaign with 15 points, finishing third in Group A.

President Bio Releases 30 New Varieties of Maize, Rice, and Cassava today at Rokupa research Centre in Kambia District.

His Excellency Julius Maada Bio has officially released 30 new improved varieties of maize, rice, and cassava developed by Sierra Leonean researchers at the Rokupa Research Center in Kambia District.

The release represents a major step in the Government's flagship Feed Salone Programme, aimed at transforming agriculture and achieving national food self-sufficiency.

Warrant of Arrest for Popular Sierra Leonean Entertainer!

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has issued a warrant of arrest for Natasha Beckley, fondly known as "Tasha", for unlawful possession of narcotic substances in her house.

According to the Head of TOCU M.K Alieu, they did an unannounced raid at the said facility and discovered a series of hazardous narcotics substances, a reason they deployed security personnel at the said facility at 8 Campbell Lane off Fourah Bay Road.

"No one showed up since the crackdown so we decided to dig deep to know the owner of the house," Alieu said.

A Freetown City Council source said the house belongs to Natasha Beckley, a reason she has been charged with unlawful possession of narcotic substances and other offenses.

SLP is calling on members of the public to help with information that will lead to her arrest.

Last month’s 2-0 win over Ethiopia has given the team a major boost in confidence as they aim to defeat the Stallions and move into second place in the group standings.

Leone Stars have welcomed two new players to the squad as preparations intensify for Wednesday’s key World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso in Monrovia.

Midfielder Abu Dumbuya, who plays for Zabbar St. Patrick DC, and forward Samuel Gandi from Politehnica UTM Chisinau have officially joined the camp.

Both players arrived in high spirits and are eager to make their mark in what is shaping up to be a must-win encounter for Sierra Leone.
