During our visit, we prayed for God's continued grace and protection, and wished the very best for the people of that beloved nation.

I humbly thanked my colleagues, the Bishops of the United Methodist Church, for allowing me to speak to them on the theme: On mission, who? and why? With text from Jonah 4:2 to 11, at our Africa College of Bishops meeting in Luanda, Angola.

In my message, I revealed that God wants a relationship with each and every one of us, and that He calls us to join Jesus’ mission to befriend others. God wants humans to share His passion for reaching nations and beyond.

I asked colleagues, bishops, what would be different if God’s love were to go beyond our borders? But thankfully, I again reminded them that we have gone well beyond our borders and found it to be an amazing experience of love expressed, growth achieved, and obedience defined.

Discussing the book of Jonah, I acknowledge that the story of Jonah and God together challenges God’s people to rise above their hatred of others and see the world through the eyes of their Creator God, Yahweh. The only thing that is greater than God’s power to churn the seas is His love for His creation. God hates nothing He has made. He yearns to restore it to Himself.

At the Africa College of Bishops meeting in Angola, I had the honour to share God’s word with the Jerusalem Church as they celebrate their 51years of God’s goodness and mercy.

In my sermon, I spoke on the theme: The Indictment, with text from Jeremiah 2:4-13.

I reminded them of the powerful indictment by God, which was delivered through the prophet Jeremiah, and this was against the unfaithfulness and idolatry of the people of Israel. God brought them into a fertile land to eat its fruit and rich produce. But they came and defiled the land and made His inheritance detestable.

What Jeremiah was saying to his people was not that they had failed to be religious. They can go to church all they want, but God looks not only at the places where your legs take you. God looks at your heart, and if your heart is not tuned to God's kingdom, you can break every attendance record. It will do you no good if you're not in church for the right reason.

Together with other Episcopal leaders of the United Methodist Church in Africa, we had a successful Quadrennial Training and Legal Forum, hosted at the Africa University in Zimbabwe.

This two-day gathering brought together leaders of the Church from various African Episcopal Areas.

It was a platform for training, legal education, and experience sharing, with a strong emphasis on unity, leadership, and the evolving structure of the United Methodist Church.

With support from the United Woman in Faith Regional Missionary, I officially open and dedicate the United Women in Faith Bakery for the Kenema District United Methodist Women.

This initiative serves as a testament to the growing impact of women who are committed to improving lives not only in the church but also in their communities, families, and society as a whole.

This is truly an empowerment for the Women in Kenema District.

Thank you, United Women in Faith, for this great initiative.

Together with my brother, Bishop Tom Berlin, we paid a courtesy visit to UMC facilities across Freetown.

From the United Methodist University: The Theological Campus at Leicester Peak, and the Schools of Transformative Education, Business and Entrepreneurial Studies on King Harman Road, to the Bishop's Court on King Street and later to the UMC Hospital, Urban Centre, Kissy.

We were not only encouraged by the high standards maintained by these institutions in delivery services but also by the support they receive from the different communities in which they are situated.

Thank you to each and every staff member for your service to humanity.
