Our Source of Help & Comfort!

The weight of our trust lies in the object of our faith. If we claim faith in God, our trust will always be in Him.

Psalm 121:1-2 reads: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made the heaven and earth,”

The Psalmist expressed hope and assurance in God because of His power to create the universe. This is the same God of yesterday, today and will be forever. He provides all our needs according to His glorious riches in Christ. Therefore, we cannot trust in a lesser power than God Himself. No family member, friend or amount of money can compensate for what God can do on our behalf. We should trust Him with all our hearts and minds, and seek Him daily, so that we may find grace, help and comfort in time of need.

Almighty God, from whom all blessings flow, we thank and appreciate You for being the source of all good things in our lives. We pray that You will continue to uphold, guide and guard us through all the perils and dangers of this world. May we trust in You alone and dwell in Your presence all the days of our lives. Amen!

Have a resourceful week. Help others to realize that God is the ultimate source of our help & strength.

The Extraordinary Power of God!

There are many fears and uncertainties we face daily which could be personal, social, political or otherwise. However, we serve a God who not only created the universe but had the power to raise Jesus from the dead according to His plan and purpose. Yes, this same power lives within us who believe. So why should we fear?

Ephesians 1:19 says "And His incomparable great power for us who believe. That power is the same as His mighty strength".

Paul used different terms to emphasize that the extraordinary divine force by which Jesus Christ was raised is the same power at work in and through us believers. We must remember that the source of this power is God through the Holy Spirit.

One might doubt or ask, what's the purpose of this power? The answer is simple - to help us make progress through grace, achieve victory over Satan and sin, and be effective witnesses for Christ. This power is an activity, manifestation and strength of the Holy Spirit that is always working in favor of faithful believers.

Almighty Father, we pray that you will increase our Faith and allow the power of the Holy Spirit to work in and through us. May we consciously align ourselves with Your word so that we will live victoriously for You. Amen

I encourage you to help others understand the depth of God’s power. JNT Cobna-Davies

Unforgiveness and its Effect on Prayer!

Unforgiveness in our hearts can severely hinder our answers to prayer. While faith strengthens our prayers, unforgiveness weakens them. If we hold animosity or bitterness against others, it is difficult to love or communicate with God.

In Mark 11:25-26 Jesus said “Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions.”

Holding onto unforgiveness grieves God and prevents Him from forgiving us. The scripture is quite clear that if we want God to forgive us from our sins, we must forgive others who may have done us wrong.

If you have an argument or a disagreement with someone, you should reconcile with the person as soon as it is possible, understanding that conflict causes damage not only to your relationship with others but also with God.

Dear Lord, as you’ve called us to forgive, enable us to overcome all the bitterness we’ve been carrying and to pardon those who may have hurt us in the past, so that you can use us as you please and respond to our needs. Remove all resentment in our hearts and forgive us for holding onto them. Thank you, O Lord, for answering our prayers. Amen!

I encourage you to make every effort to reconcile with those who may have hurt you in the past. JNT Cobna-Davies

Ask, Seek & Knock Without Ceasing!

It is common for people to give up after praying for a considerable period of time. We tend to conclude that God does not hear us and therefore not answering our prayers. We must understand that many times, praying and receiving from God requires faith, focus and follow-through (taking action).

Jesus is assuring us that our efforts will be rewarded; therefore, we should never give up when trusting and believing for a miracle.
In Matthew 7:7-8 He says “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened”.

Jesus encourages perseverance in prayer when asking, seeking and knocking, according to God’s will for our lives.
Asking implies consciousness of our needs and the belief that God will answer our prayers; seeking entails earnest petitioning along with obedience to God's will; and knocking involves perseverance when praying even when God does not respond or act as quickly as we would like.

Our God and Father, we ask that You will strengthen us to be persistent in prayer. Give us the grace to continue trusting in You and in Your word, whether it is for leading, direction, wisdom, knowledge, understanding, patience, love, breakthrough or anything else we desire. Thank You Lord for answering our prayers, in Jesus Your son’s name we pray. Amen!

There is no testimony without a test. Endeavor to be a relentless prayer warrior and see the hand of God move mightily on your behalf. JNT Cobna-Davies.

In Christ, We Have Peace!

Even though we face a lot of uncertainty, Jesus Christ assures us that we can have peace in Him.
In John 16:33, He said "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world".

From the scripture, you may have noticed the vivid contrast between the peace that Jesus Christ offers and the trouble in the world. Indeed, how else can we overcome these troubles? While our human flesh tempts us to yearn for the pleasures of the world, it is through Jesus, the Prince of Peace, that our needs and desires can be truly satisfied.

In spite of the inevitable challenges we might face, we are never alone; God is with us. We should remember that the battle has already been won, so no need to fear. As long as our faith leans on Jesus Christ, we will receive true peace, tranquility and calmness of mind.

Dear Lord, help us to obey Your word and to continue trusting in You. In spite of our busy schedules, prompt us to set time apart for You, so that we will grow in knowledge and understanding of You. Help us to turn away from evil and do good, to seek peace and pursue it (Psalm 34:14); so when the storms of life blow, we will be safely guarded by Your peace. Amen!

The Lord will calm the troubled waters and see us through to the end.
Have a peace-full weekend.

It’s International Women’s Day!

As International Women's Day is celebrated around the world, let us take this opportunity not only to celebrate women’s achievements and move the next agenda forward but to acknowledge and appreciate women for being the “help meet” that God intended.

In Genesis 2:18, our Lord God said "... It is not good (insufficient, unsatisfactory) for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable (adaptable, complementary) for him".

While some men may claim they have full and meaningful lives without women, the bible clearly says “It is not good”. God created the woman to be a companion and helper for the man. As such, women are equipped to help us (men) reach our full potential and to fulfill God's plan and purpose for our lives, and our families.

Men, let us acknowledge our spouses, fiancées, mothers, sisters and all other women around us and tell them how much we appreciate them for being who they are.

O God, we pray for all women around the world. Instill in them the virtues of a Christian woman to complement the needs of men in their lives, and in their path. Strengthen and equip them to be faithful and diligent, no matter what may come their way. Help us men to acknowledge and demonstrate love for them more often so that we will be in oneness, and together fulfill Your plan and purpose for our lives. These we ask through Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen!

Happy International Women's Day to all women around the world!
Men, endeavor to do something remarkable for a special woman in your life. JNT Cobna-Davies

Seeking God's Counsel!

Many people presume they know everything and can handle issues on their own without seeking direction from God.

Joshua and the Israelites made the same mistake. Joshua 9:14 says "The men of Israel sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord".

As great warrior and strategist, Joshua knew he should seek counsel from God before leading his troops into battle. But in this instance, when approached for a Peace Treaty by the Gibeonites, Joshua and the leaders failed to pray and seek God's guidance. They presumed it was an easy matter, so they made the decision on their own. This presumptuous decision brought the ungodly Gibeonites within Israel's midst even though it was forbidden (Read Deuteronomy 7)

From the story above we can deduce the following:
1) It is essential to consult with God our Father in all of life's situations.
2) Presumption will always land us on the wharf of regrets
3) In all the decisions we make, we should seek God's will and guidance.

Dear Lord, we acknowledge that we are finite beings with limited understanding of the situations that life brings our way. We pray that you will uproot the spirit of presumption from our lives. May we learn to seek Your counsel in all our undertakings. All these we ask in Jesus’ name. Amen!

Let’s endeavor to be submissive to God, follow his will for our lives and bring others to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. JNT Cobna-Davies
