The 2025 Sexual Harassment in Media Workplaces survey, led by WAN-IFRA WIN and City St George’s, University of London, is gathering fresh, anonymous data to better understand the extent of the issue – and how to tackle it.

We’re inviting media professionals across Sierra Leone to take part. Whether you’ve experienced harassment, witnessed it, or simply want to support safer workplaces – your input is valuable.

BBC Media Action Sierra Leone, with support from GIZ Sierra Leone and Liberia is proud to launch the “Investigative Reporting Fellowship for Journalists and Strengthening Media Capacity for Accountable Mining in Sierra Leone.”

This training brings together journalists from across the country to build skills in investigative journalism and promote accountability in the mining and extractive industries.

Together, we’re strengthening the media’s role in ensuring transparency and responsible resource governance.

Mohamed A Kamara, co-founder and manager of the Freetown Innovation Lab, is recycling discarded tyres and other waste to transform them into bespoke designer furniture while empowering young people to get involved.

The World Bank estimates that around 130,000 tonnes of plastic waste is generated every year in Sierra Leone - currently, less than 6% is recycled.
