House of Stars Season Two Winner Lolo Simeon Alleges Deception, Unsafe Prize House and Lack of Ownership Documents

By Abdulrahman Koroma

Winner of House of Stars Reality TV Show Season Two, Lolo Simeon, has broken her months-long silence, accusing the show’s Chief Executive Officer, Valentine King, of deception, broken promises and handing over prizes that are allegedly unsafe, undocumented and unfit for use.

In a strongly worded public notice addressed to her supporters , known as “Troopers,” Lolo Simeon detailed what she described as nine months of unanswered requests for ownership documents relating to the house she won during the reality show, which ended in February 2025.

“For nearly nine months, I have been constantly requesting documents for the house that was presented to me,” she stated.

“My lawyers wrote formally and were promised that the land documents would be ready and that a deed of conveyance would be assigned to me. Six months later, nothing was produced.”

According to Lolo Simeon, legal checks revealed that neither Valentine King nor House of Stars has a registered title to the land on which the prize house was built, a revelation she says makes the so-called prize legally meaningless.

Controversy Over Prize Car

Beyond the disputed house, the Season Two winner also raised serious concerns over the car awarded to her as part of the prize package. She disclosed that she was given a used Nissan Rogue without valid ownership documents, contrary to public expectations created by the show’s organizers.

“The CEO described the vehicle as ‘destined for me by God,’ yet I was handed a battered Nissan Rogue with multiple mechanical faults and no proof of ownership,” she said.

“It broke down several times, putting my life at risk.”
She further alleged that she was asked to contribute money to access a different vehicle and later pressured to regularize the registration of the same defective car nearly a year after it was handed over.

Rushed Ceremony, Unfinished and Defective House

Lolo Simeon also criticized what she described as a hurried public handing-over ceremony for the house, staged despite the building being incomplete and structurally compromised.
“He begged me to allow the public ceremony and promised to complete the house privately afterward,” she explained.

“I agreed because I trusted him and believed in the platform.”

However, according to her account, the reality she encountered after the ceremony was alarming. She said critical defects had been concealed during the event, only to become evident afterward.

“When I confronted him with video evidence, his response was, ‘I have handed over the keys to you. You can go ahead and do the finishing yourself. It’s your house,’” she recounted.

“That statement broke me.”

Engineers Declare House Unsafe

Professional assessments later confirmed, according to Lolo Simeon, that the house is structurally unsafe and uninhabitable.

She listed water-soaked ceilings, leaking walls and dangerous construction faults among the defects discovered during attempted repairs.

“My mother stayed in a hotel for nearly two months supervising repairs we should never have had to do,” she said.

“Even after spending a significant amount of money, we cannot live in that house. The damage originates from the foundation.”
She emphasized that her mother has not moved into the house and cannot do so safely.

Allegations of Disrespect and Gaslighting
The House of Stars winner further accused Valentine King of persistent disrespect, manipulation and insults directed at her, her mother and her supporters.

“He has brushed aside every concern and even told me I can take the matter anywhere I want, including to God in heaven, and he would still win in court,” she alleged.
“He calls me ungrateful, forgetting that I competed fairly and that thousands of supporters invested their hard-earned money in my victory.”

Lolo Simeon said her prolonged silence was driven by hope that the matter would be resolved privately. However, she now believes the issues are intentional and unresolved.

“This is no longer about me alone,” she declared.

“It is about the Troopers who believed in a platform they thought was legitimate. I feel we have all been robbed.”

Call for Accountability

Concluding her statement, Lolo Simeon apologized for disrupting New Year celebrations but insisted that the truth must be made public.

“Enough is enough,” she said.

As of publication, House of Stars management has not publicly responded to the allegations.

SALMaR Media will continue to follow the story and seek responses from all parties concerned.

Lolo Simeon is the winner of House of Stars Reality TV Show, Official Season Two.

Sierra Leone Journalist and Lawyer Calls for November 7 to Be Declared a National Holiday in Honour of Ebola Victims and Survivors

By Mohamed Kamara

As Sierra Leone marks another anniversary of the devastating Ebola outbreak, journalist and lawyer Ishmael Sallieu Koroma has called for November 7 the day the country was officially declared Ebola-free to be recognized as a National Day of Remembrance and Resilience.
Reflecting on the tragic events of 2014, Koroma said the memories of the Ebola crisis remain deeply etched in the national consciousness.

“The fear in our communities, the empty streets, the haunting wails of sirens, and the countless families torn apart by a virus that tested our humanity to its very core — those memories are still vivid,” he said.

Koroma described Ebola as “more than a health crisis,” calling it a national trauma that “stripped away lives and livelihoods, exposed the fragility of our healthcare system, and left deep emotional scars that still linger today.”

Despite the horrors of the outbreak, he commended the courage and sacrifice of Sierra Leoneans who fought on the frontlines, including “nurses, doctors, journalists, civil society workers, burial teams, and community volunteers” who, in his words, “became heroes of our time.”

On November 7, 2015, the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared Sierra Leone free of Ebola a moment Koroma described as a “symbol of hope, resilience, and national pride.”

“That date symbolized the triumph of resilience, science, and solidarity. It was the day Sierra Leone rose from the ashes of despair to reclaim her dignity before the world,” Koroma noted.

He argued that declaring November 7 a national holiday would not only honour the victims, survivors, and frontline workers but also serve as a reminder of the country’s collective strength and unity in the face of adversity.

“Such recognition is not merely symbolic; it is necessary for national healing and historical continuity,” he emphasized. “Every generation should be reminded of what we endured and overcame together.”

Koroma further added that a day dedicated to the end of Ebola would provide an opportunity for reflection and education, inspiring citizens to remain vigilant and better prepared for future public health challenges.

“Declaring November 7 as a national holiday is not just an act of remembrance — it is a call to preserve the legacy of resilience that defines who we are as Sierra Leoneans,” he said.

As Sierra Leone continues to recover and build stronger health systems, Koroma’s message serves as both a tribute and a call to action — to remember the fallen, honour the heroes, and celebrate the nation’s enduring spirit

Market Opportunities Emerge in Sierra Leone’s Telecom Industry Amid Data Price Changes.

Sheikh Omaru Jalloh, Head of Brand, Communications, and Marketing, Ecobank Sierra Leone Limited

The telecommunications landscape in Sierra Leone is undergoing a period of significant transformation as major players—Orange Sierra Leone Limited and Africell Sierra Leone Limited—adjust their data pricing structures. These recent changes have sparked public debate and reshaped market dynamics, creating both challenges and new opportunities within the sector.

Over the past few months, many consumers have expressed frustration over increasing data costs coupled with persistently poor Internet connectivity, particularly in rural and underserved areas. Customers frequently report slow browsing speeds, interrupted video streaming, and dropped connections—issues that have made digital engagement increasingly difficult for individuals, students, and small businesses. The rising cost of data is adding financial strain on low-income earners, further widening the digital divide and limiting access to essential online services such as education, E- Commerce, and mobile banking.

Amid these challenges, One Mobile has entered the market with a bold and transformative initiative—the launch of Sierra Leone’s first Stand-Alone 5G network. This move positions the company as a game-changer and a catalyst for innovation in the nation’s telecom space. The introduction of 5G technology marks a major leap forward for connectivity, offering lightning-fast Internet speeds, low latency, and enhanced reliability.

What makes One Mobile’s entry even more significant is its commitment to extending next-generation connectivity beyond Freetown, reaching regional cities such as Makeni, Bo, and Kenema. This strategic expansion will enable more communities to experience superior digital connectivity, supporting businesses, educational institutions, and local entrepreneurs who depend on stable Internet access for daily operations.

The superior network capacity of One Mobile’s 5G infrastructure allows users to enjoy faster downloads, seamless video streaming, and real-time communication—benefits that are increasingly critical in an economy that is becoming more reliant on digital platforms.

Industry analysts believe that these pricing shifts and technological advancements present a dual-edged reality: while some consumers may face short-term cost pressures, the evolving competition creates fertile ground for investment, partnerships, and digital transformation. As telecom operators strive to differentiate themselves, the market is likely to see improved service quality, broader rural coverage, and more innovative customer-centric packages.

As Sierra Leone continues its journey toward a digitally empowered economy, the telecommunications sector remains a vital engine for economic growth, innovation, and financial inclusion. The ongoing market reshuffle—driven by One Mobile’s 5G innovation and the strategic responses from established players—signals a new era where consumers could ultimately benefit from better services, wider access, and greater value for money.

However, for these opportunities to fully materialize, stakeholders—including government regulators, service providers, and consumer advocacy groups—must collaborate to ensure that connectivity becomes affordable, equitable, and accessible for all Sierra Leoneans.

ECOFEST Music Festival Postponed Until 2026 Due to Venue Challenges

By SALMaR Media | Freetown

The organisers of Sierra Leone’s biggest entertainment showcase, the ECOFEST Music Festival, have announced that the highly anticipated event will not take place this year.

The decision, according to organisers, comes after extensive but unsuccessful efforts to secure a suitable alternative venue while the Siaka Stevens National Stadium remains under renovation.

In a press statement released by Mrs. Hawa Turay, Chief Executive Officer of ECOFEST, the team expressed “deep regret” over the postponement, noting that all potential sites reviewed failed to meet the safety, capacity, and logistical standards required for an event of such scale.

“Over the past four years, the ECOFEST team has worked tirelessly to secure an alternative venue to host the nation’s largest and most celebrated music festival while the National Stadium undergoes renovation,” the statement said.

“Despite extensive consultations, feasibility studies, and site visits across multiple potential locations, we have been unable to identify a venue that meets the safety, capacity, and logistical standards required for an event of this magnitude.”

ECOFEST has become a premier platform for showcasing African creativity, culture, and unity, attracting thousands of music lovers annually.

However, organisers say their recent experience hosting two smaller-scale events at alternative venues confirmed that those locations could not handle the production, attendance, and security demands of the main festival.

“After careful review, and having hosted two smaller-scale events at alternative venues, it has become clear that these sites cannot reliably accommodate ECOFEST’s expected attendance, production scale, and security requirements,” Mrs. Turay explained.

“We would rather pause than compromise on the quality and integrity that our audience deserves. The safety of our fans, artists, and partners has always been non-negotiable.”

The statement adds that consultations were held with local authorities, venue managers, and security consultants, but the ongoing closure of the National Stadium and the inadequacy of other sites—particularly in terms of crowd management, emergency access, staging infrastructure, and security readiness—left organisers with no viable options.
Financial and logistical constraints were also a major consideration.

According to the statement, hosting ECOFEST at smaller or less-equipped venues would have created significant challenges related to transportation, power supply, sanitation, and event production, ultimately affecting the overall experience for both fans and performers.

“We fully recognize that this news will be disappointing to our loyal fans, partners, vendors, and artists who have supported ECOFEST throughout the years,” the organisers added.

“We are deeply grateful for your trust, patience, and unwavering belief in what ECOFEST represents: a celebration of African unity, creativity, and culture.”

Despite the disappointment, the ECOFEST team says preparations are already underway to ensure a bigger, better, and safer comeback in 2026.

“As we look to the future, we remain fully committed to returning stronger in 2026,” Mrs. Turay affirmed.

“Our team is already in discussions with key stakeholders to secure a bigger, safer, and more accessible venue that will allow us to deliver the world-class experience that our audience expects and deserves.”

Organisers have encouraged fans to stay connected through official communication channels for future updates.

“Thank you for standing with us, for believing in our vision, and for keeping the ECOFEST spirit alive,” Mrs. Turay concluded.

“The music will play again — louder, brighter, and stronger than ever.”

Sierra Leone, Eni S.p.A. Sign Landmark Offshore Reconnaissance Agreement to Boost Petroleum Prospects

By SALMaR Media

Freetown, Sierra Leone – 31 October 2025: The Petroleum Directorate of Sierra Leone has announced the signing of a Reconnaissance Permit Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Sierra Leone and Eni S.p.A., a global integrated energy company headquartered in Rome, Italy.

According to a statement issued by the Directorate, the agreement marks a major milestone in the Government’s ongoing efforts to unlock the country’s offshore petroleum potential and attract credible international investors to the energy sector.

Executed under the visionary leadership of His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio, the agreement grants Eni the right to conduct reconnaissance and technical evaluation activities across Offshore Blocks G-113, G-129, G-130, G-131, and G-132 — covering approximately 6,790 square kilometres of Sierra Leone’s territorial waters.

The statement emphasized that the initiative underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to strengthening its upstream petroleum sector, enhancing investor confidence, and ensuring responsible management of its natural resources.

The reconnaissance work will involve advanced geological and geophysical studies to generate valuable technical data on the offshore basin.

Commenting on the development, the Director General of the Petroleum Directorate, Eng. Foday B.L. Mansaray, described the agreement as a strong vote of confidence in Sierra Leone’s governance, stability, and regulatory environment.

“This Agreement demonstrates the confidence that reputable international investors such as Eni S.p.A. have in Sierra Leone’s leadership and regulatory framework,” Mansaray stated.

“It is a testament to President Bio’s visionary leadership and the Government’s steadfast commitment to advancing national development through strategic, transparent, and sustainable partnerships.”

He further noted that the collaboration would help strengthen institutional capacity, improve data quality, and provide key insights to guide responsible oil and gas development for the benefit of all Sierra Leoneans.

Eng. Mansaray also extended appreciation to TGS, the country’s multi-client seismic data partner; Africa Energy Partners (AEP) for their facilitation and support; and the African Energy Chamber for promoting Sierra Leone as an attractive investment destination.

In welcoming the development, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio commended the collaboration between the Petroleum Directorate and Eni, reaffirming his Government’s dedication to transparency and accountability in all petroleum sector operations.

“This partnership signals Sierra Leone’s readiness to responsibly harness its natural resources as part of our agenda for economic diversification and shared prosperity,” President Bio said.

“Eni’s engagement strengthens investor confidence and positions Sierra Leone firmly among West Africa’s emerging petroleum frontiers.”

Over the past decade, Eni S.p.A. has expanded its presence across West Africa through major offshore discoveries and gas development projects. The new agreement represents a significant step forward in Sierra Leone’s petroleum journey, laying the groundwork for future exploration, drilling, and potential discoveries that will contribute to energy security, local capacity development, and long-term economic diversification.

The Petroleum Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a stable, transparent, and investor-friendly environment to support sustainable resource management and national development.

President Bio Unveils Bold New Measures to Intensify War Against Kush

Freetown, Thursday, 30 October 2025 — President Dr. Julius Maada Bio has taken decisive steps to strengthen Sierra Leone’s fight against the deadly Kush epidemic, announcing a series of sweeping reforms and enforcement measures during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting at State House convened to review the one-year report of the National Taskforce on Drug and Substance Abuse.

Addressing ministers, security chiefs, justice sector leaders, and civil society representatives, President Bio described the Kush crisis as one of the gravest threats to Sierra Leone’s social stability, public health, and national security.

He said the presentations and interventions from stakeholders underscored a profound national urgency that must deepen the country’s resolve to defeat Kush and all forms of drug and substance abuse.

In a firm yet compassionate address, the President unveiled plans to establish a Special Fund dedicated to supporting prevention, treatment, social support, law enforcement, and community engagement — the five pillars of the national anti-Kush campaign.

The Fund, he explained, will guarantee sustainable resources for both ongoing and future interventions.

President Bio further disclosed plans to create a Special Court to handle drug-related cases exclusively.

The new court will fast-track prosecutions and ensure that justice is delivered swiftly and decisively to traffickers and peddlers.

Complementing this move, a Special Security Unit will also be formed, drawing personnel from the Operational Support Division (OSD) of the Sierra Leone Police and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) to conduct coordinated raids on drug-peddling hotspots and arrest offenders.

To reinforce the judicial framework, the President announced that the Honourable Chief Justice will issue a new Practice Direction to guide proceedings and sentencing in drug-related cases.

This, he said, will ensure consistency, gravity, and deterrence in the dispensation of justice. He also directed the Office of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice to expedite legislative reforms that will introduce tougher penalties, strengthen enforcement, and allow for asset seizures targeting the financial networks behind the Kush trade.

President Bio warned that no public official found colluding with traffickers would be spared.

“Any public official found colluding with traffickers, whether at police stations, airports, seaports, or border crossings, will face the full force of the law. No sacred cows!” he declared emphatically.

Calling for collective responsibility, President Bio urged citizens, communities, and institutions to join forces in the national fight against drug abuse.

“This is a fight that requires heart and unity from every citizen and every sector,” he said.

“Parents must recognise the warning signs and act early, teachers must watch attentively over our students, communities must protect one another, religious leaders must preach healing, not stigma, and businesses should create opportunities for those in recovery.

Every Sierra Leonean must declare: not in our country, not in our communities, not in our homes, and not in our streets.”

The President expressed deep sympathy to families who have lost loved ones to drug abuse and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to expanding care, treatment, and social support services for all affected persons.

“Our collective efforts,” he noted, “must bring hope, comfort, and restoration to every affected family and community.”

The event also featured a moving testimony from Michael Tamba Komba, a former RSLAF footballer and ex-player for a Liberian club, who shared his journey of addiction and recovery. He thanked the government for facilitating his rehabilitation and now runs “Kick Start,” a community initiative helping young people recover from drug and substance abuse.

President Bio’s announcement marks a turning point in Sierra Leone’s anti-drug efforts signalling a united, determined, and action-oriented approach to ending the Kush scourge once and for all.

EDITORIAL: TURNING THE TIDE AGAINST KUSH – SALMaR MEDIA HAILS THE JUDICIARY’S SWIFT JUSTICE AND PRESIDENT BIO’S REHABILITATION DRIVE

By SALMaR Media

Sierra Leone is finally turning the tide in the fight against Kush — a deadly narcotic that has devastated lives, ruined families, and placed our youth on the edge of destruction. For years, the nation has watched helplessly as addiction crept through communities, robbing young men and women of their promise. But now, a new sense of urgency, direction, and determination is reshaping the national response.

SALMaR Media commends the Judiciary of Sierra Leone for its resolute stand and renewed commitment to speedy trials and firm sentencing of Kush peddlers and dealers. In recent weeks, courts across the country have taken decisive action, ensuring that offenders face swift justice. These trials send a strong message — that the era of leniency and procedural delay in drug-related offences is over. The Judiciary’s assertiveness has restored public faith in the rule of law and reinforced its role as a guardian of justice and public morality.

The establishment of special courts to handle drug-related matters further demonstrates judicial foresight and institutional strength. By prioritizing these cases, the courts are not only decongesting the justice system but also aligning their actions with national urgency. The message is clear: those who profit from the suffering of others will be pursued, prosecuted, and punished.

SALMaR Media equally applauds His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio for complementing judicial enforcement with social rehabilitation.

The commissioning today of the National Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre at Hastings marks a major step toward a compassionate and comprehensive national response. The centre represents hope a place where victims of Kush addiction can heal, recover, and rebuild their lives.

President Bio’s vision of pairing justice with rehabilitation reflects a deep understanding of the multifaceted nature of the crisis. It shows that while peddlers and traffickers must face the full force of the law, addicts many of whom are victims themselves deserve a second chance. This balanced strategy captures the essence of leadership: firmness against wrongdoing, yet compassion toward the fallen.

The collaboration between the Judiciary and the Executive in this fight offers a powerful blueprint for national renewal. It exemplifies how state institutions can work in unison to confront a shared challenge and safeguard the country’s future. The Judiciary delivers justice; the government delivers hope — together they deliver progress.

SALMaR Media urges all Sierra Leoneans to match this momentum with personal and community responsibility. The fight against Kush cannot be left to the courts and government alone. Parents, teachers, youth leaders, religious bodies, and the media must each play a role in education, prevention, and rehabilitation.

As a nation, we must refuse to be defined by addiction or despair. The current synergy between the Judiciary and the Executive shows that with leadership, coordination, and collective will, Sierra Leone can rise above this crisis.

SALMaR Media stands firmly in support of this national awakening. We salute the Judiciary for its courage, discipline, and efficiency, and we commend President Bio for pairing justice with humanity. Together, they are not just fighting a drug , they are fighting for the soul, dignity, and future of Sierra Leone.

Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Mayor of Freetown, Her Worship Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, has expressed deep gratitude to God after narrowly escaping a tragic road accident on Saturday morning that was quickly followed by a fire incident affecting her driver.

In a heartfelt post on her official page, Mayor Aki-Sawyerr recounted how her car was hit by a truck in what she described as a “terrible accident.

” She thanked God for sparing her life, explaining that she was not in the vehicle at the time of the collision — a moment that could have turned fatal as the side most damaged was the very seat where she normally sits.

In a shocking turn of events, less than thirty minutes after the accident, the Mayor’s driver received a distressing call informing him that his house was on fire. By the time he reached home, the building had been completely destroyed, with nothing left to salvage.

“There have been many tears shed today, but I am grateful that no lives were lost and no one is in hospital. It is well. God is in control,” the Mayor wrote.
