Hon. Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara graced the final match of the maiden Lawyers Society 2025 Football Tournament at the SLFA Academy.

The Lawyers Society Football Tournament, the first annual competition of the society, aims to promote youth development, sportsmanship, and unity among members of the Legal Community.

JFK expressed his appreciation for the initiative, noting the role of sports in promoting peace and development among young people. He described football as one of the greatest sources of unity in the country as well as in many parts of the world.

He commended the organizers for their dedication to sustaining the tournament and encouraged the players to embrace discipline and teamwork, both on and off the field.

Cheered for his strength, appreciated for his passion and commitment towards football, and honored to take the kickoff for the final match of the competition, in recognition of his role as a football stakeholder. It has nothing to do with politics, it is about acknowledging the man who means well for Sierra Leone—said the Public Relations Officer of the Leyers Society, Bahmie Davies, Esq.

The President of the Lawyers Society, Sorie Sengbeh Marah, Esq, said the competition was being organised in fulfillment of the promises made, when he contested for the presidency of the Society in 2024.

Mr. Marah said that the purpose of the tournament is to popularize sports at the bar and to mobilize young members of the legal profession towards cohesion and unity.

The tournament is part of the activities to mark the 1st anniversary of the Lawyers Society.

In the public imagination, Hon. Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara (JFK) is often seen through the lens of his distinguished legal career, the courtroom authority, the polished advocate, the intellectual force. Yesterday, during the Lawyers Society’s ongoing football week celebrations culminating in their much-anticipated dinner, JFK once again showed why he remains one of the most relatable figures in national public life. At the final match, he was not the reserved legal icon. He was not the distant statesman. Instead, he was the people’s man, effortlessly blending into the energy of the field.

Wearing a relaxed navy-and-white tracksuit, clean white sneakers, and simple sunglasses, he presented a picture far from the suited lawyer many are used to. It is also measured by the ability to remain *humble, accessible, and grounded*, no matter how high one rises.
