*‼️Dr. Bernadette Sanko Koroma Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Fathers Across the Globe*
To every father, and to every mother who carries the weight of both roles with grace and unwavering strength, today, we honor you.
Fatherhood is not always a title earned by blood alone. It is earned in early mornings and late nights, in sacrifices made quietly and love given loudly. It is found in the man who shows up every single day, and in the mother who steps into that gap with courage, refusing to let her children go without. To both, we say: we see you, we thank you, and we celebrate you.
The Quran reminds us of the depth owed to parents: “And your Lord has decreed that you be kind to your parents…” (Surah Al-Isra 17:23). Fatherhood, in this light, is a sacred trust, a responsibility to guide with kindness, to provide with diligence, and to lead with patience.
The Bible echoes this same spirit of love paired with guidance: “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4). And in Proverbs we are reminded, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Fatherhood is an investment planting seeds whose harvest we may not see for years, but trusting the planting all the same.
To the fathers who provide, who discipline with love, who teach by example, who show up even when it’s hard, thank you.
To the mothers who father as well as mother, who fill every role with tireless devotion, thank you. Your strength does not go unnoticed, and your love is the foundation upon which our community stands.
To my people, today we pray for peace in our homes, strength in our trials, wisdom in our decisions, and joy in our togetherness. We pray for those for whom this day is bittersweet (as it is for my family and I ) those missing fathers gone too soon, those longing for fathers they never knew, those carrying the role alone. May you feel surrounded by your loved ones too.
May God bless you, guide you, and walk with you today and always.
With love and gratitude
