Statistics Sierra Leone: National Census Mapping TOT

Statistics Sierra Leone, under the theme "Credible Data for National Development," is currently conducting a Training of Trainers (TOT) for the upcoming national census mapping exercise. The TOT is scheduled from 8th to 14th September 2025 and focuses on cartographic (mapping) specifically targeting the enumeration and mapping of residential structures across the country.

According to Mr. Amadu Sheriff, Principal Statistician for the North East Region, the training is aimed at equipping Mappers with the necessary skills to carry out effective and accurate mapping, particularly in Tonkolili, Falaba, and Koinadugu Districts.

He emphasized that the foundation of the census is proper mapping, as it enables accurate reporting on agriculture, tourism, and population data all of which are crucial for national planning and development.

This mapping phase plays a pivotal role in ensuring that every household is counted, laying the groundwork for a successful national census.
