Taking videography beyond the camera lens.

As part of the Spark Media Masterclass, our videography students had an exciting Drone Training Session led by Tamba Bangura, one of the skilled team members at Spark Media. Students were trained not only on how to fly drones professionally, but also on how to creatively use aerial footage to enhance storytelling and cinematic video production.

From learning drone controls to capturing smooth aerial shots, the session gave students hands-on experience in becoming better videographers and future drone pilots.

At Spark Media, we believe in giving students practical industry-standard experience that prepares them for the real world of media and content creation.

Today, we are honored to welcome James Tamba-Martha as our guest tutor for the Spark Media Masterclass 2026.

An award-winning street and documentary photographer, James is the recipient of the 2024 Vickie Remoe Prize for Journalism and New Media. Through his lens, he captures powerful human stories that reflect resilience, identity, and the everyday realities within Sierra Leonean communities.

His work goes beyond photography — it is storytelling with purpose. With a deep commitment to social impact, James continues to amplify voices often overlooked, transforming ordinary moments into meaningful visual narratives that connect with audiences everywhere.

Yesterday, Saturday, our Photography and Videography Masterclass teams embarked on an exciting field practical and tour at Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary. From hiking through nature trails to documenting moments, capturing powerful photographs, and creating creative documentary content, the experience was both educational and inspiring for our students.

The trip gave our students the opportunity to practice real-world storytelling, teamwork, and outdoor content creation while learning how to create meaningful visual narratives in natural environments.

Special thanks to Tacugama Chimpanzee Sanctuary for warmly welcoming our full Photography and Videography team and giving us such an amazing tour and learning experience. We truly appreciate the hospitality and support.
