Kambia Police Arrest Pharmacy Technician Over Alleged Theft of Free Healthcare Drugs.
Kambia, June 19, 2025 β Police in Kambia District have announced the detention of a 28-year-old pharmacy technician in connection with the illegal possession of government-supplied Free Health Care (FHC) medications. The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb the diversion of essential medicines intended for vulnerable populations.
The suspect, Emmanuel Kamara of Kambia Government Hospital, was apprehended on Wednesday, June 18, following a tip-off from a Ministry of Health official. Mr. Michael, a staff member of the Ministry, identified Kamara during an inspection and handed him over to police authorities after discovering a quantity of assorted drugs believed to have been stolen from the hospitalβs central medical store.
The seized medications are part of a government initiative aimed at providing free healthcare to pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under five years old. The drugs are currently held at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) as investigations continue.
Chief Superintendent of Police Bob Musa Nazlic Mansaray, the Local Unit Commander of Kambia Division, emphasized the policeβs commitment to protecting public health resources and ensuring accountability for medical theft. He called on hospital management and staff to enhance security measures and monitor access to medical stores more vigilantly.

The suspect remains in protective custody as investigations proceed.
