Bahria University in Islamabad recently hosted the Deputy Head of Mission from the Embassy of Somalia Yasin Mire Mahmoud, accompanied by a group of Somali students currently enrolled at the institution. The visit served as a symbol of the strong and growing academic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Somalia, strengthened through strategic partnerships with multiple Somali universities.
During the engagement, the Somali delegation held a productive meeting with the Honorable Rector of Bahria University, Vice Admiral (Retired) Asif Khaliq HI (M). Discussions focused on enhancing academic collaboration, improving student support programs, and identifying new opportunities to advance educational exchange between the two countries.
Bahria University proudly hosts more than 60 full-time Somali students across its campuses. These students have made valuable contributions to the university’s diverse academic environment, reflecting the institution’s commitment to inclusivity and global engagement.
“This visit is a testament to our dedication to building strong international relationships in higher education,” a university spokesperson noted. “We look forward to expanding our cooperation with Somali institutions and supporting the academic journey of Somali students in Pakistan.”
The visit highlights the important role education plays in fostering bilateral relations and cultural understanding between Somalia and Pakistan.
