Buy-a-book for a student pilot project
Quality education is the key to transforming communities and shaping the future of its young academics. In post-conflict Somalia, many University students lack access to quality training in academic writing, a crucial skill for the success of an engaged scholar, that is up to the task of the Somali nation’s peacebuilding. Since the link between academia and the policy world is lacking, we are passionate about bridging this gap by offering a mentorship programme focusing on academic writing, and post-campus life, including training on public relations (PR), effective leadership, and entrepreneurship skills for University students.
Through an intensive training course, over a span of three (3) months, sessions will be held both on and off-site campus to accommodate student needs as we aim to begin the mentorship programme as soon as possible. The target group? While we target some 100,000 students in the long run and in a more sustainable manner, the current pilot programme aims at a 10% outreach only; that is 10,000 students. And, for now, we are seeking sponsorship for these students with a USD 15 per student in order to implement a ‘buy-a-book for a student ticket’ which will serve as a pilot project for the mentorship programme.
Who are we? A group of passionate educators enmeshed in a community spirit fully dedicated to empowering young academics through quality, policy-oriented education; of which in a post-conflict Somalia we call it ‘emergency education.’
By helping contribute to this students’ movement and supporting its campaigns, you are investing in Somalia’s quality education and the future of its people.
We urge you to contribute and invest in the future of education in a post-conflict context and with a long-term mission to rebuild lives, peoples and humanity!
