PRODUCTION We organize your event. We do every event. Our speciality are debates, lectures, arts, literature, music and cultural events, news reports, documentaries, but also longterm projects and programs.

OUR GOAL AND FOCUS DeSaN Productions Suriname positions itself as a liason and an intermediar for the development and ex*****on of projects and programs and other initiatives in the fields of: reporting, multi-media, the arts, research & investigation, science, society and culture from Suriname for a Surinamese, Caribbean and worldwide audience. All projects, programs and initatives are aimed towards raising the awareness of a particular target group in a specific field.

KRUTUKULTURU/ TALKCULTURE KrutuKulturu, in English, TalkCulture, is the arts and culture program of DeSaN Productions.

TalkCulture seeks to find common ground and does not focuses in pointing out differences. Another aim of this arts and culture program is to bring together different people and various organisations in order to reach better understanding of one another. We designed, directed and produced and were the co-producer of the kick-off of CARIFESTA XI in 2013 in Suriname. This event was called: CARIFESTA COME TOGETHER. CARIFESTA KONMAKANDRA.

KRUTUKULTURU PRESI/ TALKCULTURE HOUSE Is an actual location where the KrutuKulturu Program can be held in participation various actors before a live public. Beside debating, the performance, science, literature, cultural events and the performance and visual arts are given major attention within a KrutuKulture Presi. In fact, together make up the Talk Culture House, the Krutu Kulturu Presi. Difference with other venues is the ultimate aim: raise awareness. bring about change. bring about understanding. find common ground. accept the differences. bring about development. And last but not least. Bring about beautiful things. Make life better. More beautiful. KIESWIJZER/CHOOSE WISER Since 2005 our is aim is to do a multimedia citizen awareness program preceding the national elections in Suriname. The program is called Choose Wiser, in Dutch, Kies Wijzer, KiesWijzer. Choose Wiser wants to discuss openly with the Suriname public, issues which are important to the community. The program functions as a guidance for the electorate to choose based on their specific interests, needs and focus. Furthermore, Choose Wiser is meant for the politicians. The candidates of the various political parties who will participate in the general national elections. At Choose Wiser they’re asked: - which three main aims do you want to accomplish, and in what way, why and how, with which money do you want to accomplish these major goals if your party wins the elections and gets into goverment? Choose Wiser provides information about political parties who have candidates running to be elected. Choose Wiser provides info about,their ideology and history to citizens in a critical and structural manner. Choose Wiser aims to persuade politicians in these parties to hold themselves and their party accountable to promises made to the electorate at previous and upcoming elections. That’s why Choose Wiser also looks at the election programs and wants to find out how many of the promises and intends written in the party program and election program, both previous and current, were and will be actually realized.

Choose Wiser aims:

To close the gap between citizens and politicians;

To motivate more people to vote, especially the young ones;

To provide the electorate with a critical, transparant and thorough insight in upcoming elections;

To motivate the electorate to vote less on the basis of populism or favoritism and more on the basis of personal affinity with the ideology and policy intentions of a certain party or party combination. ;

Show politicians and political parties that’s it’s also possible to base their campaign on issues ;

To give every party which will participate in upcoming elections an equal change to present themselves to the electorate. ART4ABETTERLIFE Art4ABetterLife is a resocialisation program for delinquent youth, drop out youth and teenage moms. Through the arts, their self confidence and self awareness is raised. After this initial phase, the youngsters work independently on their so called Personal Handbook. What are their personal goals in life and how can they go about reaching these goals? Art4ABetterLife aids these young people in shaping a better life for them.

Aim of all of our projects is to enlarge knowledge and awareness for the specific target group the project is meant for. In certain projects, our aim is also to bring about change within the specific target group. DeSaN Productions has a holistic approach with all her projects. Founder of DeSaN Productions is political scientist, specialized in International Relations. Themes of courses and research: democracy, human rights, free speech, mass media and societies in political and economic transition. (University of Amsterdam, 2000) Nancy de Randamie. She majored with a thesis where she introduces a new kind of democracy and the rol of the media. The thesis: ‘Media and Discursive Participatory Democracy’ focuses on the role of the media in emerging democracies, more over societies in political and economic transition. De Randamie looked at the relationship between media practice and the communication between citizens and their government during the time Poland was led by L**h Walesa from a centralized economy to a market driven economy. De Randamie returned to her country of birth in 2002 and started working in the arts and cultural field as well as in the media sector worldwide (especially Suriname and the Netherlands). Her media experience dates back to 1993 when she joined Student Television Amsterdam and started making programs on local television. From idea(pre-production, script development) to production (sound, light, camera) to completion (editing, broadcasting) to the managerial side it all (leading editorial meeting, acquisition, logistics ) she acquired her broad and indepth media experience, before she started working in Suriname for various media. THE SEA WASHES OVER ME Right now in post production by DeSaN Productions, the creative documentary: The Sea Washes over Me. De Randamie wrote the script and directed this film. Release: 2019

De Randamie applies her knowlegde as a political scientist not only in her media work, but also in her various projects and programs where the key denominators are striving towards awareness and development for the public for which the project is meant for. In EVERY project she works with designated and dedicated professionals in their field of expertise and hereby ensures quality and a unique angle.

DeSaN Productions was enacted in 2009. Since 2015 De Randamie is also entrepreneur in the field of tourism with the company TOP Treasures of Paradise where she continues to innovate and aims to bring either joy, astonishment or any other emotion to her public.

De Randamie: “ Regarding my work, my goal is to reach my audience in a profound manner. After reading, watching, seeing, experiencing something I created (alone or in close cooperation with others), my aim is to reach you straight to your heart or mind or senses or all three of these, in order to let you experience or think of a matter, or feel about something, from a different and/or a more enlightened perspective . I go to the heart of the matter: truth, seeing things from different sides and making you understand what’s really going on with the issue(s) at hand. I’ve reached my goal, if what I de sign has an impact on you, by making you think things through, by making you understand, or simply making you feel happy and satisfied.”

What would make me truly happy? If communication processes within society, become more democratic. Yes, in most societies now, people can say what they want, but what are the consequences? And: are they even heard by the powers that be? Most often the answer is:no.
