South Sudan's ICT Minister Ateny Wek Ateny Says He Expects to Live to 100, Names Preferred Burial Committee

JUBA, South Sudan — South Sudan's current Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services (ICT & PS), Ateny Wek Ateny, has shared a light-hearted but reflective message about his future, saying he expects to be buried in 2064 when he turns 100 years old.

In a statement, the minister said he has always told his children that he will live to celebrate his 100th birthday before his eventual burial. However, he noted that his children find it difficult to believe him while he is still alive.

Looking far ahead, Ateny also named three individuals he wishes to serve on his burial committee when that day eventually comes: Hon. Paul Dhel Gum Matem, Mr. Akoch Akuei Manhiem, and Dr. Ting Mayai.

The remarks, shared publicly by the minister, appear to be a personal reflection expressed with humor and optimism about longevity rather than an indication of any health concerns or an official announcement.

FINAL REPORT ON THE RESOLUTION OF THE LAND DISPUTE CASE

To: The Office of the Wanyjok Presbytery

From: Reformed Presbyterian Church of South Sudan (RPCSS), Lol-Mading Local Church

Date: 3 August 2026

Subject: Final Report on the Resolution of the Land Dispute Involving the Church and Gate Light Primary School

Dear Moderator, Clerk, and Members of the Wanyjok Presbytery,

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Session of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of South Sudan (RPCSS), Lol-Mading Local Church, respectfully submits this final report regarding the land dispute involving our church and the proposed Gate Light Primary School.

We give thanks to Almighty God for His faithfulness, protection, and providence throughout this challenging period. Following the legal case brought against our church concerning the ownership and use of the land, the matter was heard and determined by both the statutory court and the traditional community court. After carefully examining the evidence and hearing the testimonies presented by all parties, both courts ruled in favor of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of South Sudan, Lol-Mading Local Church.

This judgment affirms the church's lawful ownership and rightful use of the land, which was voluntarily allocated to the church by the local community. We give all glory to God for granting justice and bringing this matter to a peaceful conclusion through the established legal processes.

We also express our sincere appreciation to the Wanyjok Presbytery for its steadfast prayers, encouragement, and unwavering support throughout this difficult process. Your spiritual and moral support strengthened our congregation and reminded us of the unity we share in Christ.

With this matter now fully resolved, we look forward to the next phase of our ministry by commencing the construction of Gate Light Primary School, Lol-Mading. We believe this school will provide quality education rooted in biblical truth and Christian values while promoting the holistic development of children and contributing positively to the future of our community.

We humbly request the Wanyjok Presbytery to continue praying for:

- God's wisdom and guidance as we begin the construction of Gate Light Primary School.
- The provision of the financial, material, and human resources required to complete the project successfully.
- Lasting unity, reconciliation, and peace within the Lol-Mading community.
- The continued spiritual growth, ministry, and witness of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of South Sudan, Lol-Mading Local Church.

Attached to this report are copies of the official court decrees and orders confirming the judgment in favor of the church for your records and reference.

Once again, we thank the Wanyjok Presbytery for standing with us in prayer and support throughout this process. May the Lord continue to strengthen our partnership as we advance His Kingdom and faithfully serve the people of South Sudan.

Yours faithfully,

Session
