📌 𝐒𝐀𝐃 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: A Soldier Beheads Mother in Awan Mou

Police authorities in Gogrial West County, Warrap State, have reported that a soldier of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) allegedly killed his mother on Monday.

The incident occurred in Anguoth village, Awan Riau Payam, where the suspect reportedly cut off his mother’s head with an axe following an argument over undisclosed reasons.

Brigadier Garang Lual Lual, Chief Inspector of Police, identified the deceased as 64-year-old Nyanut Ayuel Ring. He said the suspect had recently returned from Division 4 in Unity State.

“He cut off his mother’s neck with an axe. There is no clear reason the suspect did this to his own mother. It is not clear because he came from Unity State; there is something that angered him about being misused by his mother. We are still acquiring information about what caused the incident,” Lual said.

The suspect is currently under arrest as investigations continue to establish the motive behind the killing.

In a grand finale held on Sunday at Holf Course Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, Amel impressed the judges by showcasing the richness of South Sudanese culture, a performance that ultimately secured her the crown. Her victory marks a proud moment for South Sudan, highlighting the country’s growing presence on the international pageant stage.

With this achievement, Amel earns the right to represent Uganda in the upcoming Miss Petite Global 2026 pageant, scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from May 4th to 10th, 2026.

The Miss Petite Global Uganda pageant serves as the national chapter of the international Miss Petite Global competition, which celebrates women 168 cm (5’6”) or below in height, promoting not only beauty but also confidence, cultural pride, and community involvement.

📌 𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆: Baboya Samuel Officially 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐌𝐄𝐃 as the New President of Awan Muorkuau Football Association in Juba

Today, Sunday, Sept. 7th. 2025 | In a partial meeting organized by football enthusiasts, players and Awan Muorkuau legends in particular, following their today’s friendly match against Awan Muorkuau Artists in Buluk playground, comes an appointment of their fellow ‘𝙻𝙴𝙶𝙴𝙽𝙳’ Baboya as the new president of Awan Muorkuau Football team. The decision came after lack of commitment, as alleged from Manut Tong Atak, who has been serving since September 2022.

In attendance was the Founder and the First President of Awan Muorkuau Football Team, and the Current President of the Gogrial West County Football Team, Bulo Mawien Dengdit. However, His presence was a symbolic
gesture to the broader football community, signalling that this important decision was born out of a genuine sportsmanship and deep enthusiasm. It also underscores the role played by legends, who simultaneously serve as councillors and delegates representing the General Assembly of Awan Muorkuau Community.

Samuel was a senior player of Kenya’s Super Eagle in the late 2000s and Amarat Fc ‐ Juba in 2015, just to mention a few. Known for commitment to youth development and sports initiatives, he’ll regulate the team and facilitate the rest of the programs, including the forthcoming Gogrial Community Peace Tournament, which is set to commence early on December in Kuajok.
