As Mabior Adhiok and Ajak Ayuen bravely fought gangs in Bor and Shirkat, some Buor community members opposed their efforts and never supported. Now crime rises again, endangering youth and innocent citizens. We urge community elders and top leaders to redeploy them to restore order and protect vulnerable lives before it’s too late.

In Loving Memory of Hon. Ezra Mayom Ngong (1948 – 19th June 2025)

Today marks a dark and sorrowful day as we mourn the passing of a great man, a beloved father, and a dedicated leader, Hon. Ezra Mayom Ngong. Born in 1944 in Gak (Adol), Kolyang Payam, he lived a life full of service, commitment, and resilience. He peacefully passed away on 19th June 2025 at the age of 81.

Hon. Ezra Mayom began his educational journey at Malek Primary School and later attended Secondary School in Rumbek, graduating in 1968. He went on to earn a Higher Diploma in Khartoum, showcasing his dedication to education and self-betterment.

He began his professional career with the Sudanese Telecommunications and Postal Service in Renk, later being transferred to serve in Jonglei. In 1983, he made a profound decision to join the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), standing firm in the struggle for justice and freedom.

In 1970, he married his beloved wife, Akon Chol D**g of Angakuei. Their union was blessed with eight wonderful children: Deng Mayom, Yar Mayom, Guguei Mayom, Chol Mayom, Ajoh Mayom, Panther Mayom, and Ayuen Mayom. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who instilled strong values in his children.

From 2000 to 2004, he worked tirelessly in Mangalatore Displaced Persons Camp, supporting vulnerable communities during a difficult period. In 2005, he became a Member of Parliament for Jonglei State, a position he held with honor, representing his people with integrity and dedication until his final days.

Hon. Ezra Mayom Ngong leaves behind a legacy of courage, service, and compassion. He will be remembered not only as a public servant but as a man of wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to his community and country.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

A Fact-Checked Response to the Article by Sixty 4 Tribes Press on Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang's Political Career

Sunday, June 15, 2025

The provided article contains several inaccuracies and claims that could not be independently verified through credible news sources. Notably:

● State Minister of Environment and Forestry: There is no public record of Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang serving as the State Minister of Environment and Forestry in Jonglei State, except that she had been the State Minister of Information and communication; Health; Animal Resources, Fisheries, and Tourism; and Deputy Governor of Jonglei StateIn fact; before her current position of National Minister of Trade and Indutry. There is no Ministry of Environment and Forestry in Jonglei State.

● Conflict was between the Deputy Governor Akech Dengdit and her as State Minister: The article's portrayal of a direct conflict between Atong Kuol Manyang as a state minister and Jacob Akech Dengdit as Deputy Governor, leading to his dismissal, is not supported by available information. In March 2024, Hon. Atong Kuol Manyang, then a state minister, was appointed to replace Jacob Akech Dengdit as the Deputy Governor of Jonglei State. While reports from that time highlight a history of friction between Governor Denay Jock Chagor and the deputy, Jacob Akech Dengdit. A direct clash with Atong Kuol Manyang in her Ministerial capacity is not documented as the cause for his replacement.

● Nepotism and Leaked Report: The allegations of nepotism, specifically the appointment of her uncle as the Director of External Trade, and the existence of a "leaked report" regarding "shoddy contracts" and "counterfeiting goods" at the Nimule border, could not be substantiated through any credible news reports or official statements. These remain as unverified claims. The Mentioned Director has been with the Ministry since 2003 when it was the Secretariat for Commerce and Supply in Yei, before becoming a Ministry in 2005. He had been the Director for External Trade from 2012-2018 until the general reshuffling was done and had been a director before the Minister was appointed. Hon. Minister did a normal transfer and did not make any appointment in the Ministry as stated by 64 tribes. Should she have victimized him with his qualifications

(Experience 22 years in the Ministry, Master's)?
● Reason for Suspension of South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) Head: The article directly links the suspension of the Executive Director, Gloria Nyoka, to her refusal to allow expired maize flour to pass at the Nimule border. While the SSNBS has been actively involved in seizing substandard goods, including maize, at the border, news reports on her suspension cited the official reasons as "mismanagement of resources, unprofessional conduct, divisive politics, and undermining the Minister's office." A direct causal link to the specific incident with the maize flour is not explicitly stated in these reports.

It is unfortunate, misleading, and dangerous when an unprofessional, anti-government, and incredible news outlet like 64 Tribes which does not distinguish between documented events and unsubstantiated claims reports to the public in a country like South Sudan where the majority are naïve and consume anything online without verification.

Juba, June 12, 2025 – President Salva Kiir Mayardit was briefed today by Kuol Manyang Juuk, Senior Presidential Advisor and Chairperson of the National Transitional Committee (NTC), on the ongoing progress in implementing the security components of the 2018 peace agreement.

In a statement to the media, Kuol Manyang affirmed the NTC’s strong commitment to fulfilling the peace agreement’s provisions, highlighting that security arrangements remain the top priority.

He noted that efforts are underway to finalize the Committee’s operational budget, which he emphasized is essential to fast-tracking the broader peace implementation process. Kuol also urged peace partners and stakeholders to enhance their support—particularly in facilitating the ex*****on of Chapter Two, which outlines key security reforms.

The NTC, formed under the revitalized 2018 peace deal, plays a central role in overseeing the agreement’s rollout, with a mandate focused on national security reform, governance, and reconciliation efforts.

Heavy Rains Submerge Homes, Displace Residents in Bor Town

Heavy rains have caused widespread flooding in Bor Town, displacing numerous residents and submerging homes across several neighborhoods.

Eyewitnesses and local residents reported that the downpour, which began early Saturday, quickly overwhelmed drainage systems and low-lying areas, leaving parts of the town underwater. Images and videos circulating from Bor show flooded streets, submerged homes, and families stranded on higher ground.

“As of today, several households have been displaced by the flooding. Many families are sheltering outside with no proper cover,” said a local resident who asked not to be named.

Community members are now calling on the Jonglei State government to urgently intervene. Many are in need of temporary shelter, food, and medical support as water levels continue to pose health and safety risks.

“We are appealing to the state authorities and humanitarian agencies to come to our aid,” one displaced resident said. “Children are sleeping outside, and there is fear of disease outbreaks.”

Flooding has become a recurring crisis in Jonglei State, especially during the rainy season, with Bor Town among the most vulnerable due to poor drainage and its proximity to the Nile River.

As of Saturday morning, there was no official statement from state authorities, but local leaders say assessments are underway.
