In Loving Memory of Hon. Ezra Mayom Ngong (1948 – 19th June 2025)
Today marks a dark and sorrowful day as we mourn the passing of a great man, a beloved father, and a dedicated leader, Hon. Ezra Mayom Ngong. Born in 1944 in Gak (Adol), Kolyang Payam, he lived a life full of service, commitment, and resilience. He peacefully passed away on 19th June 2025 at the age of 81.
Hon. Ezra Mayom began his educational journey at Malek Primary School and later attended Secondary School in Rumbek, graduating in 1968. He went on to earn a Higher Diploma in Khartoum, showcasing his dedication to education and self-betterment.
He began his professional career with the Sudanese Telecommunications and Postal Service in Renk, later being transferred to serve in Jonglei. In 1983, he made a profound decision to join the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), standing firm in the struggle for justice and freedom.
In 1970, he married his beloved wife, Akon Chol D**g of Angakuei. Their union was blessed with eight wonderful children: Deng Mayom, Yar Mayom, Guguei Mayom, Chol Mayom, Ajoh Mayom, Panther Mayom, and Ayuen Mayom. He was a loving and devoted husband and father who instilled strong values in his children.
From 2000 to 2004, he worked tirelessly in Mangalatore Displaced Persons Camp, supporting vulnerable communities during a difficult period. In 2005, he became a Member of Parliament for Jonglei State, a position he held with honor, representing his people with integrity and dedication until his final days.
Hon. Ezra Mayom Ngong leaves behind a legacy of courage, service, and compassion. He will be remembered not only as a public servant but as a man of wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to his community and country.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
