South Sudan 🇸🇸 (October 8, 2025)

President Salva Kiir Mayardit issued a series of major decrees reshuffling top military and ministerial positions:

1. Chief of Defence Forces (SSPDF):

Gen. Dau Aturjong Nyuol has been dismissed.

Gen. Dr. Paul Nang Majok has been reinstated as Chief of Defence Forces, exactly 3 months and 1 day after his earlier removal on July 7, 2025.

2. Ministry of East African Community Affairs:

Beny Gideon Mabor has been relieved of his duties.

Gen. Pieng Deng Majok has been appointed as the new Minister of East African Community Affairs.

3. Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism:

Rezik Zachariah Hassan has been sacked from this position.

Denay Jock Chaguor has been appointed as the new Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism.

4. Ministry of Transport:

Lam Akol Ajawin has been removed from office.

Rezik Zachariah Hassan has been transferred and appointed as Minister of Transport.

🚨 BREAKING: Armed attack on Juba–Bor road leaves two injured

The morning attack on a passenger Noah vehicle traveling from Juba to Bor has left two people injured.

Speaking to Aweil News Agency, Lek Machiek one of the drivers at Bor park in Juba confirmed the incident. He revealed the attacked car was among those travelling to Bor on Tuesday.

“Yes one car was ambushed by some criminals, it was around Mogiri just near here” Machiek said.

“According to one of my colleagues whose car was attacked, he said the criminal open fire on car and while shooting the two people were injured.”

He added that during the attacked at least two people were badly injured. Machiek said that the wounded were brought to Juba for treatment.

After the attack most of the car that where about to leave Juba for Bor were commanded to wait for sometime as security do search.

Machiek said the identity of the people is not yet known but suspected the youth from Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA).

Efforts to reach out to the Jonglei state government as well as government of Greater Pibor Administrative Area were not successful.

Juba, South Sudan – 7 October 2025

The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) Spokesperson, Major General L*l Ruai Koang, has confirmed reports of military confrontations involving SSPDF forces deployed outside the Abyei Box in Athoony, Ayuok, Ajak-Kuac, and Biemnhom Boma of Ajak-Kuac Payam, Twic County, Warrap State.

Several media outlets on Monday reported clashes between forces of the SPLM-IO and the SSPDF in Twic County.

In an official statement posted on his verified page, Maj. Gen. L*l Ruai wrote:

> “Armed confrontations have erupted between the unified VIP protection force deployed outside of Abyei Box.”

He further stated that more updates will be provided once the SSPDF components of the unified force complete their mopping-up operations in the affected areas.
