Warrap State Governor declares to implement the State of Emergency without ommission or addition
Saturday, July 19, 2025 - Tonj Community Hall(Kanaf), Tonj South County, Tonj Town
"I will observe zero tolerance towards incitement to violence and complacency in implementation of the State of Emergency." Stated Governor Agoth during the State of Emergency briefing for communities of Greater Tonj in Tonj Town.
During the meeting, the Governor recounted circumstances which led to the declaration of a State of Emergency in Warrap State by President Kiir Mayardit including; killings and revenge killings, cattle theft, cattle raiding, impunity and civilians taking the law into their own hands.
The Governor was accompanied to the meeting by a team of legal counsels who pledged their commitment to establish special courts and mobile courts in order to empower traditional authorities in trying cases which would otherwise lead to confrontations.
Governor Agoth shared interest to pursue the revival of Tonj Technical Institute, Kanaf textile factory and completion of Alexandria University in order to equip the youth with vital knowledge and skills for development, but with a precondition of peace which is the enabler of development.
On the other hand, Gen. Juma Rehan Deng warned Chiefs, youth and Mijook-wut to refrain from any mischief surrounding the disarmament exercise.
In their address, Chiefs, women and youth welcomed the Governor's call for general disarmament without reservations and supported implementation of the State of Emergency in its full spectrum in order for peace to prevail in Warrap State.
Present in the meeting included; The Deputy Governor, State Advisors, State Ministers, National & State MPs, Former Governors, Legal counsels, Chiefs, women and youth.
