The Central Bank has confirmed an attempted robbery outside its premises in Juba on Friday evening.

"The incident occurred outside of the Bank and was quelled by the security force. The situation is now calm," reads a statement by Chance Baniko, the Bank's Communication and Public Relations Officer.

Baniko also dismissed social media reports that the robbers entered the Bank.

"The top management of the Bank South Sudan said the incident, which occurred this evening was not inside the Bank as reported by some social networks."

However, Baniko did not confirm reports of multiple casualties as speculated on social media. (📸 Unknown)
