A Dinka woman has come under heavy criticism online following remarks suggesting that members of the Dinka community are not permitted to marry Nuer, citing “historical conflicts” between the two groups.

The controversy intensified after she further claimed that some individuals of Dinka origin now identify as Equatorians due to what she described as a “bad family background.”

At least 7 people killed and 4 wounded in a cattle raid at Ayen Amuol camp, Twic County, Warrap State. Armed youths, suspected from Mayom County, attacked the camp around 2 p.m., fleeing into swampy areas after the raid. SSPDF and herders’ efforts to recover stolen cattle were unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, in Mundri East County, Western Equatoria State, escalating cattle-related violence claimed 15 civilian lives over the past week. Families have been brutally attacked, and residents are fleeing to safer areas including Mowaga, Kediba, and Bouji.

Authorities warn that continued armed civilian presence makes grazing and recovery unsafe. Security efforts are ongoing.

🎥 Conflicting Claims Over Control of Akobo Town

Recent reports and circulating video statements have created confusion regarding the control of Akobo Town and the county headquarters.

According to the statement released by the Press Unit of the Office of the Commissioner of Akobo County, the SPLM/A-IO claim to have taken control of Akobo Town and the county headquarters. The statement further alleges that the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) have withdrawn toward Wechdeng, while the former Commissioner, Kueth Makuach, has reportedly relocated to Nyandit for safety.

However, just days earlier, the SSPDF publicly announced that they had regained full control of Akobo Town and urged civilians, humanitarian organizations, and NGOs to return to resume normal activities.

These conflicting claims have generated significant controversy and uncertainty regarding the actual situation on the ground and who currently controls Akobo.

As information continues to emerge, independent verification remains crucial to establish the true status of the town. Citizens, stakeholders, and humanitarian partners are encouraged to follow credible updates while prioritizing the safety of civilians in the area.

An Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) previously captured from the National Security Service – Internal Security Bureau (NSS-ISB) in Pajut was reportedly set on fire by SPLA-IO rebels in Duachan.

According to reports, the rebels deliberately burned the armoured vehicle after realizing that advancing South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) troops were likely to capture it intact.

Sources indicate that the fighters chose to destroy the APC rather than allow it to fall back into the hands of government forces, where it could have been recovered and redeployed for national defense operations.

The incident is believed to have occurred during the recent military engagements in the area as SSPDF forces advanced toward Akobo.
