It's true that if Riek Machar say something , people react against it, but later, they agree with him completely.
Riek Machar is the only politician in South Sudan where most of his decision are always acceptable after a bit reaction.
Let me clarify some of his points that cause contentious but people agree with him afterwards.
1: He disagree with Dr John Garang about the objective of the movement. He argued that we need right of self determination for the people of South Sudan, Dr John Garang rejected his ideas while hoping for peaceful unified Sudan..
At the end of the day, the right of self determination become one of the cornerstone of CP agreement and South Sudan is now an independent state.
2: in 2012, he raised the question of corruption in government, but people react against his ideas, but consequently, people are now realizing that he was right about that.
3: In 2013, he talks about the reform with the government, but was rejected by Salva Kiir which led to the years of conflict, but now we're witnesses some of his reform agenda.
4: He said that the 2015 agreement which was aborgated in 2016, would be revitalize by the wise leaders in the region and Africa and the rest of the world, but Kiir said he would never worked with Riek Machar again from year 2016--2017. But agreed with Dr Riek in 2018 to work together.
6: Riek Machar proposed 10 state, but Kiir proposed 32 state, after the long argument, Kiir agree with Riek Machar.
We are in 10 states now.
7: Riek Machar say that election wouldn't be held in 2022 dec. Kiir rejected his ideas but agreed with him in August 2022 for the extension of government to 2024.
8: Riek Machar say there is no election in South Sudan in 2024, people rejected his ideas including president Kiir, but agreed with him for his proposed two years extension of government.
Always, Riek Machar proposed, but cause reaction and consequently, all people will agree with him including those who opposed him.
What do you think about him?
