TRAGIC LOSS: Another Young Life Lost During Fattening Season at Kuac Ayok’s Majook-tong Cattle Camp
The Kuac Ayok Community is once again engulfed in grief following the sudden death of another young man, Bak-magok, son of Wol Agor and Ariech Diing. A member of the Payuom clan, Bak-magok died on August 28, 2025, at Ayok Cattle Camp due to complications linked to a stomach condition amid the ongoing fattening season.
His passing comes just eight days after the community mourned the loss of Mayol, who also died during this year’s traditional fattening period (Tac).
Bak-magok, from the Monyjooc section of Kuac Ayok, is believed to have suffered a fatal stomach rupture, reportedly caused by the excessive intake of milk an integral part of the Tac season.
The death of Bak Wol Agor has cast a heavy shadow over the community. Nonetheless, elders have emphasized that his spirit will be remembered through the cultural values and practices he embraced.
