Maluach will don jersey No. 10 for the Suns, a switch from the No. 9 he wore during his standout season at Duke University. He becomes the 24th player in Suns history to wear the number, most famously worn by fan favorite Leandro Barbosa (2004–2014).

Eight Foreign Nationals Deported from U.S. to South Sudan and Other Countries After Criminal Convictions

Washington D.C., July 7, 2025 -- The U.S. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has confirmed the deportation of eight individuals convicted of serious criminal offenses to their respective countries, including South Sudan, Cuba, Mexico, Laos, Vietnam, and Burma. The operation, coordinated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), followed several weeks of legal delays related to ongoing judicial reviews.

According to officials, the deportation was carried out after extensive legal proceedings and coordination with international authorities. ICE agents had reportedly been stationed in Djibouti during the process, awaiting final approvals and airspace clearances for the repatriation of the individuals.

One of the individuals, Dian Peter Domach, a South Sudanese national, was deported following convictions for firearm possession, robbery, and DUI-related offenses. He was among the group and returned to South Sudan on July 4, which coincided with the U.S. Independence Day.

The deported individuals had been previously convicted of a range of crimes, including homicide, armed robbery, sexual assault, and drug trafficking, across several U.S. states. All had completed portions of their criminal sentences and were subject to removal under U.S. immigration law.

This operation underscores our continued commitment to public safety and lawful immigration enforcement,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. “Our officers operated under difficult circumstances, and we thank them for their service.

The deportation effort, while praised by enforcement officials, has drawn criticism from legal and human rights advocates who argue that each case should be individually reviewed for humanitarian and due process considerations, especially in situations where individuals may face threats or lack of infrastructure in their home countries.

Legal observers noted that deportations of individuals with violent criminal records often require coordination with foreign governments, some of which may initially delay repatriation agreements.

Breaking News:

Major Defection Rocks SPLM-IO in Unity State.

Unity State, South Sudan -- In a dramatic political shift, at least 434 members of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-In Opposition (SPLM-IO) have defected to the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-In Government (SPLM-IG).

The mass defection, confirmed by local authorities, is being attributed to growing frustration with the SPLM-IO leadership and disillusionment over the party’s current direction. Defectors cited a lack of internal democracy, stalled reforms, and leadership failures as key reasons for their decision.

This latest development is a significant blow to the SPLM-IO, raising serious questions about its cohesion and influence, especially in the politically strategic Unity State.

Officials from SPLM-IG have welcomed the defectors, calling the move a “vote of confidence” in the government’s peace and unity agenda.

URGENT HUMANITARIAN ALERT:

PETROLEUM MINISTER HON. PUOT KANG CHUOL GRAVELY ILL IN NSS DETENTION – HIS LIFE HANGS BY A THREAD

The people of South Sudan, the region, and the world must hear this loud and clear: a sitting national minister, Hon. Eng. Puot Kang Chuol, is fighting for his life deep inside the notorious underground cells of the Blue House. Detained under questionable circumstances and stripped of his constitutional immunity, Hon. Puot is now showing deadly signs of acute illness without proper medical care.

Reliable sources from within the National Security Service (NSS) have raised red flags about Puot Kang’s rapidly declining health. Doctors attached to the prison have repeatedly asked him to disclose any underlying conditions but he remains silent, fearful, and defiant. Observers believe he fears that revealing his illness could expose him to further danger or even premeditated harm.

Let this be known to every South Sudanese home and to every human rights organization worldwide: Puot Kang may die in that detention facility unless urgent medical attention is provided. His death would not just be the loss of a national leader, but a stain of silence on our collective conscience.

Inside the prison, Kang is said to have told fellow inmates, through tears, that he is ready to die if it means shedding light on the injustice, tribalism, and abuse of power crippling this nation. He believes his death could awaken a sleeping nation. He said, "If I die here, I will consider it a heroic death, a sacrifice for the generations to come. This country needs blood to stop tribal tyranny."

Is this the future we want for South Sudan where a man can die in silence simply because he questioned authority?

This is not just about politics.
This is not just about tribe.
This is about human dignity, medical rights, and the sanctity of life.

Hon. Puot Kang Chuol is a South Sudanese, not just a Nuer. He is one of us. His suffering is our suffering.

We urgently call on:

President Salva Kiir Mayardit,
The Transitional Government of National Unity,
The South Sudan Human Rights Commission,
The African Union,
The United Nations Human Rights Council,
Amnesty International,
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD),
And every citizen who believes in justice and humanity

ACT NOW. SPEAK OUT. DEMAND HIS RELEASE OR AT THE VERY LEAST, ACCESS TO URGENT MEDICAL TREATMENT.

This is no longer a political matter it is a human emergency. If Puot Kang dies in detention, it will not only trigger local and international outrage but will serve as a permanent indictment against those who chose silence over justice.

Don’t let history record that we stood by as another South Sudanese son perished behind closed walls. His life must be saved.

Deadly Boat Ambush in Yirol East -- 43 Traders Survive, 4 Killed, 6 Missing 🚨

July 1, 2025 | BENTIU/GANYLIEL -- Authorities in Unity State have confirmed that 43 traders from Panyijiar County, who were initially reported missing, have been found alive following a brutal boat ambush near Shambe Port in Yirol East County, Lakes State.

The deadly attack occurred last Friday as the traders, totaling 53, were traveling by river en route to Juba. According to Unity State Information Minister Gatwech Bipal Both, the boat was ambushed at around 4 p.m. near the Wangthok checkpoint, where armed assailants overpowered a police es**rt and opened fire on the vessel.

Panic ensued, forcing the traders to abandon the boat and flee into the surrounding swamp.

“Four people are confirmed dead, and six remain missing in Yirol East County’s riverine area,” said David Kur Malieth, the Panyijiar County Health Director.

Of the 43 survivors, 42 have returned safely to Panyijiar County and are receiving medical treatment at the county hospital. One woman and the boat remain under the custody of Shambe Port authorities.

Minister Bipal strongly condemned the attack, attributing it to "youths believed to be from Lakes State," and urged communities to remain calm as investigations continue.

Efforts to contact Yirol East County Commissioner Manyang Luke for comment have been unsuccessful.
