SAD: Young Businessman from Warrap State Killed by Gangs in Juba

A tragic incident has occurred in Newsite Market in Juba after a young business retailer, Ariik Kuol Akoon, was brutally killed by gangs on Thursday night.

According to eyewitnesses, and family the armed assailants confronted late Mr. Ariik shortly after he closed his shop and was heading home. The attackers robbed him of his phone and wallet before taking his innocent life in cold blood.

The late Ariik Kuol, originally from Tonj North County, Warrap State, was known as a hardworking and determined young man who struggled tirelessly to support himself and pay his school fees. His sudden and violent death has left his family, friends, and fellow traders in deep shock, pain, and grief.

Family members are calling for authorities concerned to search and apprehend criminals to book .

Over 50 Patients Receive Fistula Surgeries at Comboni Hospital

The Health Department of the Catholic Diocese of Wau has conducted surgeries for more than 50 patients suffering from obstetric fistula at Saint Daniel Comboni Hospital.

Some of the patients who underwent operations during the campaign expressed joy and shared the positive changes they felt after the procedures. They extended gratitude to the doctors for the successful surgeries and appealed for similar campaigns to help other women still suffering from fistula.

The Health Department’s Coordinator, Dr. Jurel Bai Mamur, said the operations began on Saturday and will conclude on Thursday, with over 50 patients expected to undergo surgery successfully.

Dr. Jurel thanked the supporters and encouraged patients who missed this round of surgeries or who have undergone multiple operations not to lose hope, noting that some cases require more than one procedure for full recovery.

Since 2018, the Health Department of the Catholic Diocese of Wau has been conducting fistula surgery campaigns twice a year, during which more than 300 successful operations have been carried out.

According to Daniella Valantino , the return of peace and stability in the state, following the appointment of Governor Amb. Bol Wek Agoth, provides a strong opportunity for communities to invest their energy into farming .
