Warrap State Information Minister Applauds Media Outlets for Professional Service and Peace Advocacy

Kuajok, Warrap State – September 2, 2026

The Minister of Information and Communication Services in Warrap State, Hon. William Wol Mayom, has praised media houses and journalists across the state for their commitment to effectively reporting government activities and informing the public.

In an official statement released on Tuesday, Hon. Wol extended his heartfelt appreciation to both traditional and online media practitioners for their tireless efforts in promoting transparency, accountability, and development in Warrap State. He noted that the media remains a vital pillar in connecting the government with citizens and ensuring that public information reaches all communities.

The Minister specifically encouraged online media practitioners to uphold the principles of professional journalism, including accuracy, fairness, and respect for the media code of conduct and ethics. He emphasized that in the age of digital information, the responsibility to verify facts before publication is more important than ever.

“At a time when information spreads quickly through social media and online platforms, it is our collective duty as media practitioners to ensure that what we share is truthful, balanced, and serves the public interest. Sensationalism and misinformation only serve to divide communities,” Hon. Wol said.

Hon. William Wol further called on journalists and content creators to use their platforms as tools for peacebuilding and unity. He urged media outlets to amplify stories that promote reconciliation, development, and coexistence among the people of Warrap State.

“The media has the power to shape public opinion. I urge all of you to use that power responsibly by posting meaningful and constructive information that boosts peace, unity, and stability across our state,” he added.

The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with media institutions to address challenges facing journalists and to create a conducive environment for free and professional media practice. He encouraged media houses to continue their reports without fear or favor, as their work contributes significantly to governance and service delivery.

Hon. Wol concluded by expressing gratitude to all journalists in Warrap State for their professionalism and dedication, and he pledged the government’s continued support to the media sector

RIVER ROUTE REOPENS AS TWIC EAST AND DUK REACH PEACE DEAL

BOR, JONGLEI STATE — River transport between Twic East and Duk counties has resumed after youths from the two communities signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at ending a long-running dispute over fishing grounds.

The river had been closed by authorities to reduce tensions and prevent further conflict. Twic East County Commissioner James Magok Mabiei confirmed that boats, canoes and other river transport are now moving freely, restoring transportation and business activities.

Mabiei said youths involved in the conflict have returned to their respective areas, while both communities have addressed issues linked to revenge killings.

He urged young people to maintain peace and reconciliation as authorities continue monitoring security along the river and connecting roads.
