Morning Bulletin: Chiefs Election Postponed for Agaar Conference

RUMBEK TOWN – This morning brings an important update for the citizens of Rumbek East County. The highly anticipated election for county chiefs, which was scheduled to begin today in , has been officially adjourned.

The leadership of the election committee, in an official statement to Cueibet Lead Media press, announced that the decision was made to ensure full and proper preparation for the upcoming Agaar Conference. The conference, a significant gathering for the community, is set to commence this coming Monday.

This means the electoral process will be paused until the conclusion of the Agaar Conference. A new date for the election will be communicated to the public once the conference proceedings have concluded.

🚨 BREAKING: Cueibet County’s Suspended Commissioner Mr. Daniel Deng Mario Resigns from SPLM-IO Party

Cueibet County’s suspended commissioner, Mr. Daniel Deng Mario, has resigned from the SPLM-IO under the leadership of Dr. Riek Machar Teny and has joined the SPLM-IG under H.E Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit.

🔴 SUMMARY OF PRESIDENT SALVA KIIR’S LATEST DECREES

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Monday evening issued a series of Republican Decrees announcing sweeping changes across the military and key government ministries.

The major appointments and dismissals are as follows:

1. Defense Forces Leadership:

Gen. Dau Aturjong Nyuol was relieved as Chief of Defense Forces (CDF).

Gen. Paul Nang Majok was reappointed as the new CDF.

Gen. Dau Aturjong was later appointed Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs.

2. Ministry of East African Community Affairs:

Beny Gideon Mabor’s appointment as Minister was revoked.

Ambassador Pieng Deng Kuol was appointed as the new Minister.

Mary Hillary Wani, formerly Undersecretary of Labour, was transferred to serve as Undersecretary in the EAC Ministry.

3. Ministry of Transport:

Dr. Lam Akol was dismissed as Minister of Transport.

Rizik Zakaria Hassan was appointed as the new Minister of Transport.

4. Ministry of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism:

Denay Jock Chagor, former Governor of Jonglei State, was appointed Minister of Wildlife, replacing Rizik Zakaria, who moved to Transport.

5. Civil Aviation Authority:

Michael Lopuke Lotiam was sacked as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Samuel Yanga Mikaya was appointed as the new Chairman.

Michael Lopuke was later appointed Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Higher Education.

6. Ministry of Interior:

Sebit John was appointed Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Interior.

7. Ministry of Labour:

Deng Tong was appointed Undersecretary in the Ministry of Labour, replacing Mary Hillary, who moved to EAC Affairs.

The decrees were broadcast on SSBC on Monday night, marking one of the most extensive reshuffles in recent months, signaling President Kiir’s intent to reorganize government leadership and strengthen institutional performance.

Public Notice: Shooting Incident at Wau Stadium

October 6, 2025, Wau, South Sudan – The public is informed of a disturbing incident that occurred earlier today at Wau Stadium during a school football match.

The match was between Brilliant School and Wau Day School when a shooting took place.

We can confirm that Ustaz John Dut Bol, a teacher at St. Dominic primary school (Bilpham), was shot in the back during the incident. He was promptly transported to St. Daniel Comboni Hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment.

The aim of carrying out this game between the two Counties is to promote peace, Social interaction and Harmony among each other. The management of Greater Warrap Wrestling Association would like to welcome all the Government Officials, NGOs Representatives, Community Leaders and Youth to attend this wonderful occasion which is going to take place in Cueibet.

Envoy Adut Salva Kiir Settles SSP 47 Million Water Bill for Juba Prison Service.

According to an official statement to the media, Hon. Adut Salva Kiir, Presidential Envoy for Special Programmes, visited Juba Prison on Friday. During the visit, the envoy cleared a water bill of SSP 47 million owed by the Prison Service.

Additionally, Envoy Adut provided financial support for inmates charged with minor offenses, such as theft of small amounts.

VP Josephine Lagu Assures UN of Fair Trial for Dr. Riek Machar.
