ROLES OF YOUTHS IN THE COUNTRY

Youths are the backbone of any state. In South Sudan and everywhere, your energy and ideas shape the future. Here are the key roles:

1. Leadership & Governance.
Future leaders: Today's youth leaders become tomorrow's ministers, governors, MPs, and chairmen
Decision making: Join youth unions, county youth associations, and advisory councils to represent youth voices
Peace building: Mediate conflicts in communities and promote unity.

2. Economic Development.
- Entrepreneurship: Start businesses, farms, and tech projects to create jobs
Skilled workforce: Teachers, doctors, engineers, mechanics - build the state's economy
- Innovation: Bring new ideas in agriculture, ICT, and services

3. Social Development.
- Community service: Organize clean-ups like "General Cleaning, health campaigns, and education drives
Culture & sports: Preserve culture, organize tournaments, and unite people
Volunteerism: Support NGOs, churches, and local organizations

Zain South Sudan staff protest over four months of unpaid salaries

Zain South Sudan staff at the companyโ€™s headquarters in Juba have downed their tools over alleged unpaid salaries and benefits, with an anonymous source saying payment delays have continued for more than four months.

The source alleged that some international employees continue to receive salaries, travel allowances and other benefits in U.S. dollars, while local workers are owed salaries and benefits including school fees, leave allowances, handset allowances and annual allowances.

The source said management has attributed the delays to South Sudanโ€™s difficult economic situation and shortages of South Sudanese pounds. The source also said Zain continues to collect revenue from airtime and other products.

Zain South Sudan had not publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
