Top 10 Interesting Things to Learn about Aweil
10. All identify as Aweil: The first identity of the people of Aweil is Aweil. For that reason, all counties are named as Aweil East, West, South, North and Center. This is despite the fact that the directions assigned do not actually represent the truth in Geography. However, they all want to stay as Aweil no matter what.
9. Hustlers: People of Aweil work hard to make ends meet. I think I don't need to say more about this because the recent barbaric attack of traders in Bor, Custom Market's inferno and Jebel Iraq's repeated killing proved that their numbers in hustling are unmatched.
8. More Livestock than any State: Get a copy of the livestock census and read. Apart from the documented numbers, the reality has shown that cattle traders from Lakes and the petrodollar-grooms from Warrap are scattered in the markets of Aweil buying thousands of cattle each week.

6. Aweil East is populous: This county has a population that is more than that of Western Bahr El Ghazal State. Currently sitting second in South Sudan after Juba County. Bonus, it will take a credible census, to let all know that Aweil as a whole was disrespected in the NBS' 2021 PES report.
5. Children of Aweil: Out of respect for their land, they all regard themselves as children of Aweil. A true Aweilian will say "ɣen menh Aweil" translating to "I am a child of Aweil". They don't just see Aweil as a land but as a father and mother to us all.
4. Always remember Aweil: No matter how far Aweilians go, they will always remember their home someday and eventually return. They participate in community developments while away from home.
3. Kong koc: Loosely translate as "first wait", kong koc gives you time to assess and evaluate the situation at hand before taking action. Through Kong koc, Aweilians have saved South Sudan, lives of people and reputation. They are known as people of kong koc.
2. Peaceful: The people here are super peaceful. Their peacefulness is rooted in the love for their land. Never take that in place of cowardice, they have a commitment to their land.
1. Fierce defenders of rule of Law : When provoked and a fight/war is justified, they can be fierce. Neighboring communities both in North Sudan will tell you what they are capable of. If you are not ready to raise more orphans, kindly don't activate their warrior spirit.
