Secret reportedly disclosed from the Commissioner's office, Hon. Samuel Ateny Pech.

I understand this may be received as propaganda, but I am sharing what was reportedly revealed by a security officer who is connected to Abang and was present during the discussion.
Last week,27th/ May/2026 a closed-door meeting was allegedly held at Commissioner Samuel Ateny Pech’s residence between him and several prominent members of the Malual community to discuss matters related to revenge killings. Those said to have attended include:
1. Anthony Thon Wal Nyannë-nyith, Chairman of Kolnyang Community in Juba
2. Manyok Patirit Malou, Chairman of Malual Community in Bor
3. Mayol Achiek Mayaau from Pamou, Anyidi Payam, who works at Bor State Hospital

According to the account, the meeting concluded that Malual should first target and kill prominent individuals from Abang. Three individuals were reportedly named: one from Pageer, one from Biar, and one from Lual-Joh. It was also stated that no peace mediation between the Abang and Malual communities would proceed until one of the named individuals is killed. The committee that was tasked by the deputy Governor has been silenced by the commissioner.
The report further claims that Commissioner Ateny Pech promised not to take action against the Malual community including arrests of youth and chiefs until this plan is carried out. If Abang responds with any attack after losing their members, the government would then intervene to provide security, followed by peace processes in order to stop Abeng from making further attacks.

The account also states that the Commissioner is dissatisfied with Abang after being secretly recorded by Abang youth and the video being shared publicly on the media, which damaged his reputation. The alleged motive for targeting the three Abang youth is retaliation for the 28/04/2026 incident in Malual-Chäät.

To Abang community, Please remain vigilant about your movements in town and your homes particularly in Bor town. I will not disclose the names of the individuals reported to be targeted. If you have contacts among politicians, military personnel, or legal professionals, please report this matter, it's urgent and needs full attention.

To the Bor community, politicians, military officers, and activists, please help these communities and work to restore peaceful coexistence. Consider engaging the Governor, his uncle Hon. Michael Makuei Lueth, and the Koch community to address the conduct of Commissioner Ateny Pech. The report warns that more revenge killings between the two communities are likely if the current situation continues under his leadership.

NB/ You may choose to treat this as false or true. The person sharing this information claims it is factual and says it was leaked by a prominent Malual community member who is related to the Abang community. That source reportedly named the three individuals targeted by Commissioner Samuel Ateny Pech and the Malual figures, including Mayol Achiek Mayaau.

Be timely please!!

reaking News!!
A son of Abang was attacked by two sons of Malual in the Marol market.
This afternoon at 3:20 PM, Bher Mabut Bher from Abang was attacked by two men from the Malual community. One of them was identified as a son of Alier Them Deng Luol, a prominent chief in the Malual community. The boy is the younger brother of Chol Alier Them, commonly known as Monytoch, CEO of Monytoch Media.
The attacker, Riak Alier Them, is married to a lady from Abang Lual section, and the victim is also from Biar. This means that Alier Them Deng’s son attacked his own brother-in-law. The attack occurred near Mama Deborah’s building, close to Ajak Baba’s house in Marol Market, on the betting side where the young boy works.
The case has been reported to the office of the Commissioner, but the attackers have not yet been arrested. The youth of Abang are still waiting for the government to act, and it appears the Commissioner does not care.

Incident Report: Clash Between Abang and Malual Communities.

Location: Malual-Chäät Residential Area (Dëny-aboor)
Date of Incident: 28 April 2026
Time: Approximately 5:00 PM (CAT)

On the evening of 28 April 2026, a violent confrontation occurred between members of the Abang and Malual communities in the Dëny-aboor area of Malual-Chäät. The conflict initially involved groups of young women from both communities and later escalated into a broader armed clash involving youth from both sides.

Earlier in April 2026, the Malual community initiated traditional ayäyä dance training in preparation for the upcoming Malual-Chäät Boma inauguration. This followed the administrative annexation of the Malual community to Malual-Chäät Boma by the County Commissioner on 31 December 2025 at approximately 7:00 PM.

The training sessions have been conducted at Malual-Chäät Primary School, the same venue used to receive the Commissioner during the welcoming event. Participants, mainly girls (Nyïïr) from Malual, regularly travel from Pakon, Matok, and Aghor-bäär to attend these sessions.

Due to tensions arising from the annexation—formally rejected by the Abang community on 1 January 2026 (with a written submission to the Commissioner on 2 January 2026)—Malual girls have been escorted by armed youth for security reasons known to them. Reports indicate that, following training sessions, some groups of Malual girls would sing songs perceived as provocative while returning to their respective areas, though these actions were reportedly ignored by Abang youth prior to the incident.

On 25 April 2026, Abang community leaders, Chief Chol Alier Mach, Chief Ayong Chaw Ajak, and Chief Garang G*i Anyieth and youth leadership formally reported the situation to the County Commissioner, Hon. Samuel Ateny Pech, in the presence of Deng Bol Deng Agoot, Director of Revenue for Bor County. The intent was to engage Malual leadership and address concerns regarding escalating tensions. However, no effective intervention was undertaken by the commissioner before the incident occurred.
On the day of the incident, Malual girls were returning to their home areas (Aghor-bäär, Matok, and Pakon) after training while reportedly singing songs interpreted as provocative by the Abang community. At approximately 5:00 PM, the two groups of girls confronted each other at Dëny-aboor, leading to a physical altercation. Malual youth who were accompanying their girls observed the fight without intervening.
Abang youth, perceiving the altercation as a minor dispute among girls, approached the scene intending to separate the girls. However, before they reached the scene, armed Malual youth opened fire on them. The initial attack is reported to have been carried out by Manom Deng Ajier of the Gumbiir section of the Malual community, accompanied by five individuals, including Sub-Chief Majuch Lueth Majuch.
In the attack, One individual from the Abang community was killed, and One Abang youth sustained a gunshot wound to the thigh. A woman identified as the wife of Borong Deng Arem (from Pale, Anyidi Payam) was injured by a stray bullet, and Two women suffered head injuries inflicted with machetes (pangas). Ngueny Diing Nuer residential home was burned to ashes, with allegations attributing responsibility to Malual youth.

Following the shooting, Abang youth retreated, armed themselves, and returned to the scene, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. Malual youth eventually withdrew toward Aghor-bäär, and Abang leadership reported the case that led to the Organized security forces arrival at approximately 6:30 PM and managed to stabilize the situation. Security operations and investigations are currently ongoing to verify the full extent of casualties and damages on both sides.
As of the time of this report: The situation is under control due to the intervention of security forces, investigations are ongoing and tensions remain high between the two communities. The incident reflects escalating tensions linked to administrative decisions, community grievances, and unresolved disputes. Immediate and coordinated peacebuilding efforts are necessary to prevent further violence and promote coexistence between the Abang and Malual communities.

Recommendation

All stakeholders, including community leaders, local authorities, and security agencies, are urged to:

1: Engage in dialogue and mediation processes.
2: Address underlying grievances constructively.
4: Promote peace and reconciliation initiatives.
