The Republic of India and the African Union have jointly announced the postponement of the Fourth IndiaโAfrica Forum Summit (IAFS IV), which was expected to take place in New Delhi from 28โ31 May 2026.
According to a joint press release, the decision was reached after high-level consultations concerning the evolving public health situation in parts of Africa and the need to guarantee broad participation of African Heads of State, Government officials, and key stakeholders.
India reiterated its continued support and solidarity with African nations, emphasizing its readiness to work alongside the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and other relevant institutions to strengthen continental health preparedness and response mechanisms.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to the long-standing IndiaโAfrica partnership, anchored on mutual respect, SouthโSouth cooperation, shared prosperity, peace, and sustainable development.
New dates for the Summit and related engagements will be communicated following further consultations between the two sides.
