𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

On the occasion of Easter, we extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny‑Dhurgon, First Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan and Chairman & Commander‑in‑Chief of the SPLM/A (IO), who endures arbitrary and illegal house arrest; to the entire leadership and membership of the SPLM/A (IO) across the country and in the diaspora, in arbitrary detention and abduction centres, and in exile; to refugees and internally displaced persons; and to the Christian community in South Sudan and around the world.
Easter is a sacred season that embodies sacrifice, renewal, forgiveness, and hope. It reminds us that even in the darkest moments, the promise of new life and reconciliation shines through.
This year, however, our nation endures a severe economic, political, security, and humanitarian crisis, many aspects of which stem from a lack of political will and commitment to the peace process. Yet, despite these daunting challenges, we remain steadfast in our advocacy for lasting peace, stability, justice, and prosperity in our beloved country, because that is all we have to offer our people.
On this blessed day, we call upon every South Sudanese citizen—regardless of tribe, faith, or political affiliation—to reaffirm our shared commitment to coexistence, reconciliation, and nation‑building. We similarly urge political parties to honour the revitalised peace agreement and to resume constructive dialogue among all political factions. We also demand the immediate and unconditional release of H.E. Dr. Riek Machar and all other detainees, and we call for the provision of humanitarian assistance and strict adherence to human rights obligations and international humanitarian law, as these are essential foundations for any lasting peace.
On behalf of the leadership of the SPLM/A (IO), I wish this Easter brings renewed hope, peace, and joy to your families and communities. May the spirit of
