Teenage girl, Akuot Agany K*t, whose eyes were gouged by her father in Warrap last week has arrived in Juba for specialized treatment.

An organisation, South Sudanese Women United Against Violence and Abuse says they have raised close to one thousand US dollars for Akuot’s treatment. Her eyes were mutilated after she refused an arranged marriage. The NGO has called on well-wishers to donate money for her healing process.

Akuot is expected to undergo surgery in a bit to help her regain her eyesight.

The father, who has since been arrested, said he committed the act as a lesson to her daughter so that "she would never see men, again".

Her father a police officer is reportedly arrested.
