JUBA, South Sudan โ€“ As preparations ramp up for the Bahr El Ghazal Countiesโ€™ Peace Tournament, scheduled to commence on July 20, 2025, at Freedom Hall, President Joseph Majok Ayar Chieny has officially appointed several key committees to facilitate the event's organization.

The appointed committees are as follows: Organizing Committee, Information Committee, Protocol Committee, Security Committee, and Services Committee. Each committee has a specific mandate, which includes ensuring seamless coordination of the opening ceremony, managing match schedules, overseeing award presentations, and facilitating the overall management of the event. These efforts aim to cultivate an atmosphere of unity and sportsmanship, enhancing the significance of the tournament in promoting peace within the region.

Emmanuel Jalโ€™s elder sister has warned those who are falsely claiming her brother.

Emmanuel Jal is a Nuer, South Sudanese-Canadian musician and author, born in the early 1980s in Warrap State, South Sudan.

His biological father is a Nuer from Mayandit, Bentiu, and his biological mother is a Dinka from Tonj, where he was born. Jal comes from a very large family. His father was well known in Bentiu and had many wives.

Jal was only 7 years old when his mother was killed by government soldiers during the Sudanese civil war.

Shortly afterward, he was recruited by the SPLA (Sudan Peopleโ€™s Liberation Army) as a child soldier. He spent several years fighting, witnessing horrific violence, and nearly dying from hunger.

He and a group of others walked for three months through dangerous terrain before reaching Waat. There, a Kawaja aid worker named Emma McCune took him in and smuggled him to Kenya, saving his life. Later, he moved to Canada, where he started his music career.

In a viral video, an elderly woman claimed that Jalโ€™s elder brother was the one who gave her away for marriage. She also implied that Emmanuel Jal, at 7 years old, gave her to another man, which doesnโ€™t make sense.
How can a 7-year-old child give a grown woman away in marriage? Her elder brother must be someone else.

Jal has many siblings some are in Canada, some in Kenya, others in Juba, and his elder sister lives in the UK ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง.

His sister responded to the claims by saying:

โ€œEmmanuel is a brother to all of us, as long as youโ€™re South Sudanese.
