BREAKING: The Special Court hearing on the Nasir Incident involving Puot Kang Chuol, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and six other accused persons has been adjourned to Friday, October 3, 2025.

The adjournment followed a prosecution request, citing that the lead investigator was exhausted after presenting witness statements concerning four of the accused. While the defense opposed the request, the judge ruled in favor of the prosecution and postponed the session.

IN PICTURES: President Salva Kiir Mayardit convened a high-level consultative meeting with leaders of key economic institutions, including the Vice President and Chairperson of the Economic Cluster, Dr. Benjamin Bol Mel, the Minister of Finance and Planning, Athian Ding Athian, and the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, Dr. Addis Ababa Othow.

The meeting focused on the prevailing economic challenges facing the nation and explored strategies to revive, stabilize, and strengthen South Sudan’s economy.

Drama as SSBC viewers demand refund after Nasir hearing broadcast suspended

The drama has arisen this morning across the Country after several viewers demanded refunds from club owners who had collected money to allow them to watch the highly anticipated live broadcast of the special court hearing on the Nasir Incident involving Puot Kang Chuol, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and six other accused persons.

The broadcast, however, never went on air. SSBC and other media outlets suspended the live coverage after the government ordered that today’s session be held off-camera to protect the identities of witnesses and guarantee their safety.

According to reliable sources, the testimonies and evidence presented in relation to the Nasir Incident are highly sensitive and were deemed unsuitable for public viewing or hearing.

Gov’t stops live broadcast of Nasir incident hearing as witnesses testify

The fifth session of the special court hearing on the Nasir incident, involving Puot Kang Chuol, Dr. Riek Machar Teny, and six other accused persons, is underway at Freedom Hall.

The government has legally ordered media outlets to stop live broadcasting as witnesses and the accused give their testimonies.

According to reliable sources, the Prosecution team is also presenting evidence against each of the accused.
