For South Sudan to conduct free and fair elections as claimed to take effect in 2024 doesn't need intimidation from the leaders who are planning to go to the polls.
In line with a democratic country, you can't buy votes by intimidating the people.
The people's votes are bought through service delivery that is, those living in urban areas give them social services such as hospitals, schools, roads, clean drinking water, good security, job creation electrification of the city, and internet among others.
Meanwhile, those residing in rural areas build for them feeder roads to transport their agricultural produces, and cattle vaccination as well as provide them with good security that can protect their property.
By doing those things a ruling party like SPLM which has been controlling state resources for the last decade-plus, doesn't need to waste much of its time using intimidation or other bullying means of winning elections if they had provided service to the people. The services they offered can speak for them and this is how people's votes are won!
In addition to that, It's a pity that "The Road Map" which gave two years extension for the transitional government of national unity to continue governing the country has not been fully implemented, particularly security arrangements yet people are rushing to conduct elections. You can't conduct elections in an unsecured environment unless otherwise, it correlates with intimidation or maybe certain group are planning to transition the country to another bad government.
Yes, it's not good for the country to be governed too much by the Transition government but full implementation is supposed to be done so that the country moves into the elected government.
