University of Juba lecturer threatens to give students Fs grades over stolen phone

A University of Juba lecturer has threatened to fail his entire class if his missing cell phone is not returned or replaced by the students, university officials confirmed Thursday.

The incident occurred at the university's Custom Campus during an "Introduction to Computer Science" session. The lecturer alleges that the Tecno Spark 10 Pro smartphone disappeared from his desk shortly after a lecture.

"I had placed it on the table while lecturing, and when I left, I absent-mindedly forgot the phone," the unidentified lecturer stated. "Upon my return, it was apparent that the device had been taken."

The lecturer warned his students of imposing academic sanctions if the phone was not produced. "Please, if you took my phone, return it," he said in a plea to his class. "If you don't bring back my phone, then I'll punish all of you."

The classes under scrutiny include those from the School of Computer Science and Information Technology plus Cybersecurity and the School of Applied Sciences. "All students are affected. Payment is a must for everyone," he insisted. "I will give you an F in exams if you don't pay."

He openly demanded each student contribute 3000 South Sudanese Pounds for a replacement phone that boasts 16GB of RAM and a 256GB storage capacity.

According to statements from second-year students, this is not the first instance of such threats, who recounted a similar occurrence the previous year. "He ordered us to contribute money to buy him a trouser or face failing our exams," one student claimed.

To : Abiem inter-payam tournament committee and all our supporters.

On behalf of Malual baai football team in Juba,
I am here to clarify the reasons why we are not going to participate in tommorow match.

1. The beginning of the tournament the committee headed by Ngor Deng Angok asked for representative from every payam whereby we sent our representative and they never considered that person till today.
Meaning they're doing things which no one is witness about it.

2. In the beginning of the tournament, malualbaai was the first team to paid their registration fee and uniforms fee but we were they last to received our uniforms at 4pm the same day we played our first match which delayed the game on that day if anyone was there.

As per now we didn't get five uniforms yet from them,
How do we play with only 17 t. Shirts and second match with 20?.

3. During our first match we only played 70 mins which is questionable to them?
In football there must be 90mins play

4. The match between yargot payam and Wunlang was set to be play yesterday at afternoon time but both teams refused, with reasons unknown and the committee favor them .
What could be the reason of favoring them ?

Lastly and it's The reason we don't want to play we called the committee to discuss this issues with them today before we play tomorrow but they committee refused to have meeting with us,

So as the conclusions I don't see our importance to them and as Abiem people.
So as I personally and my coaching staffs , our committee we are not part of tommorow game if there's no meeting.
Let them take any decision and we are ready to summon them.

Information.

The AYU leadership this morning met with a group of Aweil student's leaders in juba. The two separate delegations were from the leadership of Aweil student's Association at University of juba and the Paliet Students in various Universities and other learning Institutions.

In a meeting that was presided over by able chairlady, Abech Aleu Ring, the two groups presented a series of challenges facing students in schools.

The head of the delegation of PALIET STUDENTS IN JUBA, chairperson Mr KON AGANY urged the Union to intervene and rescue students from being denied exams that are yet to commerce on 11th of July 2023.

On the other hand the Secretary General Mr. TONG AKECH AKEEN who also doubled as the Head of delegation of ASA-UOJ. presented a number of challenges but pointed out tuition fees as one of the core problems giving students sleepless nights.

On the Union part Mr.GARANG ATHIAN SG AYU and the Academic affairs Mr.GAI GARANG ATEM both stressed that it's necessary and the Union mandate to assist students whenever challenges arrived.

The Union wished to announced to the general public that it has assisted the two leadership with financial support, an amount money approximate to one million South Sudanese pounds.the ASA UOJ leadership walked away with 560,000 ssp while Paliet students in juba made their way with 400,000 ssp.
The money is meant to rescue the vulnerable students who might be denied access to exams tomorrow.

In conclusion the able chairlady appreciated the students leaders and promise her unwavering support to students.

The hardworking chairlady Abech also promised to visit girls hostel Sooner to acquaint herself with the living conditions of Aweil female students in various hostels.

Please accept this letter as a formal notification that Aweil south team is withdrawing from the ongoing tournament organized by confluence of Aweil Athlete in juba. On behalf of Aweil south fc in Juba and on my own behalf as chairman, I’m writing to inform our fans, general public and organizing committee that, Aweil south team I’ll not be part and partial of this ongoing tournament due to inconveniences we face through.

The so called confluence of Aweil athlete in Juba made its own decisions to invited two teams namely, pibor town and Gogrial west county to participate in this ongoing tournament without any clear reason. Aweil south from day one of the meeting was very clear, we rejected the invitation of Aweil confluence of athlete for having invited this two sisterly teams without our opinion as representatives of Aweil counties. On the meeting that we conducted yesterday in Royal hotel attested the final participation of the above two teams and the committee were continue making draw by their own without first getting into consensus with us. We discover that there is agreement between two teams ( invitees) and the organizers. Hence, we made our final decision to officially withdraw from the tournament without any obstacles.

I'm incredibly grateful for the meeting I share together with you for the past three weeks. It’s been a wonderful experience to learn more from you. Thank you for the things we did together and the time we spend as well. I wish you all the best, and look forward to keeping in touch.

In response to ustaz James Piol Marou public request in his page, in which he asked all intellectuals of Malueth sector and other well-wishers to contribute some wooden chairs for Riang akeer upper primary school. Shocking News.

Northern Bahr El Ghazal State's Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Hon. Lual Lual Agou has die this afternoon at Aweil civil hospital.

According to the family member, Lual felt sick at around 2:00 in the morning of Wednesday and developed a breath complications were he was rushed to Aweil hospital and unfortunately he passed on at around 1:00 o'clock.

Aweil TV family sends their condolences message and sympathy to the immediate family of late Lual, the government of NBGS and her people at this devastating moment.

May God rest his precious soul in eternal peace.

President Kiir swears in new Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative area.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Thursday presided over the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative area, Hon. Dr. Chol Deng Alak.

In Keynote address, President Salva Kiir Mayardit urged the new chief Adminisitrator to cooperate with Warrap State governor to restore peace and harmony between the communities of Twic and Ngok Dinka.

"Perpetuators from both sides should be brought to book.There is no reason to lose the lives of innocent people" President Kiir reiterated.

In remarks, the Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr. Baranaba Marial Benjamin said citizens are the hope to bring lasting solutions to end Subnational violence through peaceful dialogues.

On his part, the incumbent Chief Administrator of Abyei Administrative Area Hon. Dr. Chol Deng said the two communities must end cessation of hostilities to allow peaceful dialogues and negotiations to find an amicable solution.

"Border issues are government's responsibility and urged both communities of Twic and Ngok Dinka to cease fighting each other. " Hon. Dr. Chol Deng added.

On the same note, the Governor of Warrap State, Hon. Manhiem Bol Malek reaffirms his commitment to cooperate with the new Chief Administrator to resolve and settle disputes between the two communities.
