𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, πŒπ€π˜ 𝟐𝟏 πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ” β€” His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has backed a new policy proposal to accelerate road construction across South Sudan, following a briefing from Minister of Roads and Bridges Peter Lam Both on Thursday.

Minister Lam presented a proposal to establish an escrow account for oil revenues, a measure designed to improve transparency and attract international construction firms to competitively bid for road projects nationwide.

The President responded positively and reaffirmed road connectivity as a key government priority.
Among the key updates: the Juba–Bahr el Ghazal Highway will see accelerated construction after the government assigned an additional Chinese company, Jonshu International, to handle the Rumbek–Wau section, reducing construction time on one of the country's most critical transport corridors.

The meeting also covered progress on the Nadapal–Boma–Raad–Ethiopia Highway, expected to be funded by the African Development Bank, and the Juba–Torit–Nadapal Highway, currently under World Bank consideration.

Once upon a time, there was a marriage competition between the Eagle family and the Turtle family. The bride’s family gave both suitors a condition:

β€œGo back to your homes. Tomorrow morning, whoever arrives here first will win the hand of our daughter.”

The Turtle family became very worried because they knew the Eagle was fast and powerful. The elders gathered for a meeting to discuss what to do.

A young turtle wanted to share his idea, but the elders ignored him at first because he was young. However, he insisted until they finally gave him a chance to speak.

The young turtle said, β€œLet us not all go home. Some of us should remain hidden near the bride’s house, while others hide along the road leading back to our home.

Tomorrow morning, the turtle nearest to the house will come out first, and as the Eagle continues flying, more turtles will appear along the way. This will make it seem like we arrived first.”

The elders agreed with the clever plan.

Very early the next morning, the turtle hiding near the bride’s home came out and announced his arrival. The bride’s family welcomed him immediately. Meanwhile, the Eagle was still enjoying and dancing, believing he would easily win because its fly very fast.

But by the time the Eagle finally arrived, he discovered that the bride had already been given to the Turtle family.

Moral of the story: Unity, planning, and teamwork are powerful. Even the strongest can be defeated if they fail to work together, while those who meet, plan, and cooperate can achieve victory despite their weaknesses.

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.

The Office of Ngok Lual Yak Students Association at Universities and Higher Institutes in Juba would like to inform all students and community members that the construction of a permanent house has officially started on the Association’s plot located in Sherikat.

This initiative comes as part of the Association’s commitment to securing students’ land and preventing future land disputes. Despite the economic crisis and other difficult circumstances that affected our community, including the tragic massacre in Adong Payam, the office remains determined to move forward with its vision and responsibilities.

Although the initial plan was to construct fences on both plots, the current step of building a permanent house demonstrates our continued commitment, resilience, and dedication to protecting students’ properties for the benefit of present and future generations.

Former Finance Minister Hon. Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater has reportedly been released from Blue House detention and transferred to his residence under open arrest, according to family sources.

The family confirmed the development on Tuesday, saying the former minister is now staying at his home while remaining under government supervision.

𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀, πŒπ€π˜ 𝟐𝟎, πŸπŸŽπŸπŸ” β€” His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit today met with his longtime liberation comrade, Major General William Deng Garang, in a meeting marked by reflection, friendship, and shared memories from South Sudan’s struggle for freedom.

President Kiir and Gen. William Deng Garang shared a long history dating back to the liberation struggle. Both men stood together during difficult years of war and sacrifice that eventually led to the independence of South Sudan. Their relationship is rooted in the early years of the movement and the sacrifices made by countless sons and daughters of the country.

The meeting comes only days after President Kiir publicly recognised Gen. William Deng Garang Bany during the 43rd Anniversary of the SPLM/SPLA liberation struggle on May 16, 2026, where the President emotionally recalled their wartime experiences and paid tribute to his comrade’s role in the liberation journey. During the occasion, President Kiir paused his address to salute William Deng Garang and praised his contribution to the struggle and the achievement of independence.

During the May 16 commemoration, President Kiir reminded South Sudanese of the sacrifices made by liberation heroes and acknowledged William Deng Garang as one of the comrades who stood firm during the most difficult periods of the struggle.

Today's meeting reflected the enduring bonds forged during the liberation era and served as a reminder of the shared history and sacrifices that shaped the Republic of South Sudan.
