JUST IN: The SSPDF and Abyei Brigade forces have fought this morning in Aneet.

According to the sources: Rumamer County Commissioner and Abyei Mission Commander, Col. Ayuel Kiir, ordered his forces to attack the SSPDF under commander, Maj. Gen Kuac Ajak in Aneet.

Col. Ayuel Kiir and his guards shot at SSPDF forces and the SSPDF responded by shooting back at them, which resulted to Ayuel Kiir's leg injury and the dead of his 13 guards.

PRESIDENT KIIR WITNESSES THE SIGNING OF AN MOU WITH A CHINESE COMPANY TO CONSTRUCT NIMULE DRY PORT

Johannesburg, August 23, 2023- South Sudan and a Chinese company have signed a memorandum of understanding on the construction of the Nimule dry port project.

The company will also build a presidential terminal at Juba International Airport, an apron project and an air traffic management system project.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, President Kiir praised the Chinese Government for supporting South Sudan's development agenda.

For his part, China Communications Construction Company Chairman Wang Tongzhou said China is determined to expand bilateral cooperation with South Sudan in trade, investment and infrastructure development.

Officials say the construction of the Nimule dry port will help reduce transportation costs and ease trade in the area.

South Sudan and China have cordial diplomatic relations as well as trade and infrastructure ties.

PRESIDENT KIIR SWEARS IN NEW DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF WARRAP STATE

JUBA, 11th August 2023- President Kiir on Friday presided over the swearing in ceremony of the newly appointed Deputy Governor of Warrap State Aluel Garang.

President Kiir directed Aluel to go and join hands with her colleagues in the State to serve the people of Warrap.

Warrap Governor Manhiem Bol Malek appealed to Aluel's party, OPP to support her as she performs her duties in the State.

Peter Mayen Majongdit who is the leader of the opposition consortium known as Other Political Parties, OPP, pledged to support the new deputy Governor to enable her to deliver her mandate.

Following the oath taking ceremony, Aluel Garang said she will do her best to work for the protection and provision of services to the people of Warrap State.

Aluel Garang was appointed on 28th July this year, replacing Deborah Odul who is now a member of the National Assembly.

President Kiir has this morning traveled to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for bilateral talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The talks will focus on strengthening the long-standing relations between the two countries according to the office of President.

Presidential Affairs Minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the two leaders will discuss diplomatic relations, economic cooperation and infrastructure development among others.

JUST IN: Warrap State Peace Tournament Chairman, Majok Ayar Chieny suspended the secretary of Finance, Deng Dut Parek, and appointed a 5-men committee to investigate the matter that led to his suspension according to the letter attached below.

In a separate order, Majok appointed Akuac Atem Gualdit as Acting Secretary for Finance of the committee.
