Sad! It is becoming the culture of South Sudan Army all over the country to act inhumane.
In Tambura date 9th August 2022, a trader Known as Mvolo was accused of distributing money to rebels, when searching to arrest him, four innocent civilians were arrested by the soldiers(NS) and taken to their cell.
Overnight three of those civilians were beaten to half-dead by the Soldiers, and where asked to show the location of the Trader (Mvolo).
In the morning this Trader appeared to the office and presented his contract paper signed with NGO (World Vision) to dig pit latrine in some health facilities within Tambura County, it was when the organization paid the money to clear the constructors, then he was subjected to a crime which was not the case, and those people were found innocent.
Two of the three people beaten to half-dead were transferred to Yambio for further medical attention as their condition was critically.
Of 10th August 2022 the two civilians arrived in Yambio and couldn't get treatment at State Hospital later were transferred to Commercial Clinic.
The questions are:
1. Why a civilian is arrested by Soldiers(NS) not police?
2. Why beating a suspect before proving him or her guilty according to the law of the Country
3. Are there report of Rebels in Tambura on current? Like Thomas Cirillo and Stephen Buay agents
4. Is the mandate of the soldiers in this country is to protect civilians or to terrorize them.
As such the act has created fear and Punic among the community especially the relatives of the survivors, and if not address by the authority it will lead to conflict in the area.
