Rocka Ringo draws line on politics ahead of elections
Comedian Rocka Ringo has declared that he will not campaign for, endorse or participate in activities linked to any political party or candidate ahead of the country’s planned 2026 elections.
In a statement addressed to political parties, candidates and campaign stakeholders, Ringo said his platform is built around comedy, entertainment and bringing people together. He said his audience reflects different political views and backgrounds, making neutrality important to maintaining that unity.
“My primary focus is to unite people through humor, entertainment, and laughter,” Ringo said, adding that he does not want to divide his followers for “personal or political benefit.”
He also asked political organizations to respect his decision to remain outside election campaigns. “I am not in a position to campaign, endorse, or be involved in any capacity with any political party, candidate, or election activity,” he stated.
South Sudan is preparing for planned December 2026 elections. The Political Parties Council said in July that 39 political parties had been fully registered, while warning that funding shortages and insecurity could affect preparations.
