I woke up this morning and logged into my Facebook’s Wall as usual and saw the picture of Gen. Garang Mabil Deng published. Before I could read what was written above the picture of this great man, I almost collapsed. I thought it was another bad news. However, it was an article written by Gen. Aleu Ayieny Aleu in praise of Gen. Garang Mabil, published on Facebook Timeline of Dr. Thiik Yak Cithiik. I was relieved.

In fact, Gen. Aleu wrote what I have been thinking about for two years now. The question as to what can the SPLM- led government do to reward Gen. Garang Mabil Deng, while he is till alive, has not only been my question, but also from general public. Gen. Garang Mabil has been one of the few selfless living liberator I can never imagine.

Gen. Garang Mabil Deng is truly a nationalist of first order. In the aftermath to the formation of the then Government of Southern Sudan in 2005, Gen. Garang Mabil was left out both in the army and in the political arena, but he kept quite unshakenly. He never uttered any bad word against the government even when he saw men/women from other armed groups flourishing in the army he once defended from being destroyed by these groups.

Another thing Gen. Mabil did was to volunteer for the defense of Juba when he heard that the SPLM/A IO forces were marching on Juba, and was shot on his armed at Nile Safari. He then refused to go for treatment, but President Kiir gave orders for medical transfer and treatment of Gen. Garang in Kenya. He was unhappy about the senseless war that broke out between brothers and sisters, but he felt duty bound to defend the government in Juba.

We cannot mention how best Garang Mabil fought the successive Khartoum Regimes. One major battle he fought, was the attempt by the SPLA to capture Juba in 1990, under over all command of our hero Dr. John Garang de Mabior. Amongst the commanders, Gen. Garang Mabil was distinguished and exceedingly brave. After all, he doesn’t care how he is being treated today. It is hard and rare to see Gen. Garang Mabil complaining about himself, albeit he is not feeling well now and needed further treatment.

In nutshell, Gen. Garang Mabil is a social giant too. He took to burial almost every comrade that died since 2005. Garang Mabil always pay last respect to anyone that died and buried in South Sudan. He does this exceptionally, without regard to ethnicity/tribe, clan, sub-clan, section, sub-section or religious creed or political affiliation.

If there is any one person that has demolished tribal or sectional boundaries, then it is Garang Mabil undisputedly. In one similar event when he had to accompany the body of the late Hon. Gabriel Matur Malek on January 10th, 2021 aboard the Helicopter SSAF-104, Gen. Garang survived the crash together with all those onboard while crashed-landing in Cueibet, Lakes State.

I believe God saved everyone onboard because of Garang Mabil. God also loves those who were onboard with him during the crash, but God did not want to let Garang Mabil dies like that. He always had good intention and can hardly miss single burial and funeral. I am inspired by Gen. Garang Mabil social connectivity. I can confirm that I also make sure I attend any funeral so long I get the information, albeit I hardly attend burial because I get emotional. Nevertheless, I still fall back behind Garang Mabil on this exceptional traits.

Lastly, I am amazed by Garang Mabil’s energy even when he is at his 70s years of age. Last week, I was told he (Garang) travelled to Aweil to es**rt the body of a friend, and was told that Hon. Gen. Maker Thiong Maal has passed on. So, he had to travel by road from Aweil to pass Juba for Bor to attend the burial of the late Ustaz Maker Thiong Maal. In the same week, he had to travel to Tonj to attend the burial of uncle Chief Malek Akuien who also died in Juba - aged 100 years old.

Moreover, Garang Mabil doesn’t care about the age of the person that is reported to have passed on. He can attend, anytime anywhere. He is so much loved by people, young and old. So, I am requesting H.E President Kiir to consider Garang Mabil for the position that will let him do public relation for the President. It is ridiculous if, like usual we wait for his death to pay Million dollars for his funeral. I know, if Garang Mabil is to pass on (God forbid) it would be a disaster for the whole country. He must be shown how we love him now, while he lives on. Otherwise, Garang Mabil would be an asset neglected.

A REAL LIFE STORY!
I am a 24 year old young woman who was in a bad relationship for 3 years.
When I met this guy I thought it was him.
His sweet words made me believe in him.
He loved me and finally I fell in love with him.
I did everything to please him, I went to prove my love for
him, I sacrificed my life for him but he was too blind to see all of this.

I stood in front of the mirror and looked at the beautiful woman.
I'm myself, studied for exams and did it well.
I graduated last year and found a job at one of the largest companies in the United States.
At the beginning of this year I met a gentleman who didn't even want to wait for him to put a ring on my finger and right now I'm engaged and I'm going to marry one of the best men in the world.
I realized a lot of things I couldn't have achieved if I was still with this loser.
A few weeks ago he called and asked to see me.
I didn't refuse, I went to meet him, I'm beautiful, drive my car and wearing a ring on my finger.
He couldn't believe what he was seeing.
Took him to one of the best restaurant and paid all the bills.
He shouted and asked for forgiveness but it was too late.

Press statement for immediate release.
Rebuttal to the allegation of disowning VP as representative of SSOA in the Presidency
This press release serves to clarify to the members of SSOA Alliance and the general public that the statement issued on 18 of Dec. 2024 by some SSOA
Leaders within SSOA alliance is misleading because it lacks substance.
However, the leadership of SSOA refutes the content of the document circulating on social media on the following bases:

1. SSOA leadership did not and does not have authority to disown H.E. the Vice-President because they disagreed to nominate one candidate for the position of the Vice-Presidency in the first place in 2020. H.E. the�President was authorized by SSOA leadership at the time to appoint any of the candidates who presented themselves as nominees for the Position of Vice-Presidency. Thus, H.E. the President in his own wisdom appointed H.E. Hussein Abdelbagi Akol as a Vice-President of the Republic and representative of SSOA in the Presidency.

2. H.E. the VP was delegated in a meeting of the SSOA leadership after his appointment (20 Feb 2020 in Hai Thora, Freedom Group Apartments), to be the channel of communication between the Presidency and SSOA constituent parties.

3. Hon. Josephine Joseph Lagu, and Hon. Denay Jok Chagor, were tasked to arrange a unity meeting which they failed to achieve. However, Hon.�Josephine was never elected as a Chairperson of SSOA in the first Place.

4. The fact that Hon. Josephine continues to claim up to date that she is the Chairperson of SSOA is in itself a violation of SSOA Charter Article 10 (7) read together with regulation 6 sub regulation two which stipulates that: The Leadership Counsel shall elect from its members a Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Secretary General and Coordinator for the period of 6 months non-renewable.

5. Further, there was no any leadership meeting at any level that was conducted recently so as to make such a decision. The authors decided to sit alone and decide alone without consultations and consensus which�is contrary to the Charter.

6. We encourage all the SSOA constituent parties to adhere to provisions of the SSOA Charte.

7. In conclusion, there are already more problems in the country and it will be irresponsible to add political drama to the current problems. As such, adverse activities could undermine the implementation of the R-ARCSS especially when such misleading political messages are shared on social media.

Sudan demands official apology from Uganda over Museveni’s son’s threat to capture Khartoum

Sudan has demanded an official apology from the Government of Ugandan for what it referred to as the offensive and dangerous comments published by the Ugandan Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Keinarugaba, who is also the son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, on Tuesday on the X platform, in which he threatened to seize Khartoum as soon as U.S. President-elect Donald Trump takes office.

In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday and seen by Radio Tamazuj, Sudan also called on the African Union and regional and international organizations to condemn these statements, and what they entail in terms of a clear threat to regional and international security and an insult to Africans.

According to the statement, the Sudanese foreign ministry considered the Ugandan army chief’s comments reckless, and irresponsible and said “They represent a complete departure from the rules of conduct of those occupying senior official and military positions, including prudence, discipline, and choice of words.”

“These comments embody an abnormal precedent and a regrettable level of disregard for international law, the norms of dealing between states, and the requirements of mutual respect between brotherly and friendly peoples,” the statement reads in part.

The Government of Sudan added: “The threat of war, the violation of the sovereignty of states, and the challenge to the Charter of the United Nations, the African Union, and the rules of international law are too dangerous to be a subject of trivialization, seeking the spotlight, and astonishment.”

Relatedly, On Wednesday, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) summoned Uganda’s Acting Chargé d’Affaires in Kinsasha, Matata Twaha Magara, seeking clarification on recent remarks made by Gen. Kainerugaba concerning President Félix Tshisekedi and the alleged presence of foreign mercenaries in eastern DRC.

The meeting, initiated by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner, was prompted by a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) by General Kainerugaba. Among them was a controversial statement issued on 16 December 2024: “I’m going to give only ONE WARNING to ALL white mercenaries operating in eastern DRC. From 2nd January 2025, we will attack all mercenaries in our area of operations.”

He added: “In the name of Jesus Christ, the God of all Bachwezi, there shall not be left one white mercenary in DRC this time next year!”

Gen. Kainerugaba is renowned for his early controversial posts on X, some of which have led to diplomatic tensions in the region.

The tribal conflict in Tambura County of Western Equatoria State has left over 13 people killed and 62 houses were burnt down in December 2024 during subnational violence resulting to thousands of displaced persons fleeing insecurity in Tambura County majority of whom are women and children.

Despite deployment of security forces to the county, The Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Daniel Badagbu has questioned the neutrality of these security forces deployed in volatile Tambura County to mitigate inter-communal violence citing tribal affiliations.

Breaking News: Warrap State Government Condemns Killing of Dut Mading Aquang in Toni South County

The Ministry of Information & Communication Services of Warrap State has strongly condemned the tragic killing of Mr. Dut Mading Aquang in Manyang-Ngok Payam, Toni South County. The incident occurred on the evening of December 17, 2024, at 7:00 PM, when suspected gunmen, allegedly from Cuibet County in Lakes State, ambushed and killed Mr. Aquang in the Ameth-Chok area.

According to an official statement from the Minister of Information, Hon. William Wol Mayom Bol, the assailants fled the scene with the firearm belonging to the victim. Despite efforts by outpost police in Ameth-Chok to pursue the perpetrators, they were unable to apprehend them.

The motive behind the targeted killing remains unclear and is the subject of ongoing investigations.

The Warrap State Government has extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and called for calm among the residents of Manyang-Ngok Payam. In an effort to maintain peace and unity, communication between Warrap State and Lakes State is underway, and investigations are being actively pursued.

Minister Bol has appealed to the Government of Lakes State to take swift action to trace and apprehend the suspects. He also emphasized that this tragic incident should not derail the ongoing inter-state peace dialogue being held in Rumbek, aimed at fostering peaceful coexistence in the region.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to justice and peaceful resolution of conflicts, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure stability in Warrap and neighboring states.
