جوبا تحتضن أول مؤتمر إقليمي للصحة والعلم ونائبة الرئيس جوزفين لاقو تدشّن الفعالية الدولية.

افتتحت نائبة رئيس الجمهورية، الدكتورة جوزفين جوزيف لاقو، بصفتها رئيسة مجموعة الخدمات، صباح اليوم في العاصمة جوبا، فعاليات مؤتمر شرق أفريقيا للصحة والعلم، إلى جانب المعرض الدولي للصحة والمعرض التجاري، في حدث يُعد الأول من نوعه في جنوب السودان. ويستمر المؤتمر حتى السابع من يوليو الجاري، بمشاركة واسعة من دول إقليم شرق أفريقيا، إلى جانب منظمات دولية وشركات متخصصة، في خطوة تعكس التزام البلاد بتعزيز التعاون الإقليمي وتطوير البنية الصحية الوطنية.

وفي كلمتها خلال حفل الافتتاح، وصفت لاقو المؤتمر بأنه "نقطة تحول مهمة في تاريخ النظام الصحي بجنوب السودان"، مؤكدة أن تنظيم هذا الحدث على أرض جوبا يمثل دليلًا على استقرار البلاد واستعدادها للعب دور محوري في التنمية الصحية إقليميًا. كما شددت على أهمية توسيع آفاق تبادل الخبرات والابتكارات الطبية، ودعت إلى تفعيل الشراكات العلمية لتعزيز قدرات الأنظمة الصحية في المنطقة.

شهدت الجلسة الافتتاحية حضور وزيرة الصحة الاتحادية وعدد من الوزراء، إلى جانب ممثلين عن دول شرق أفريقيا، وخبراء صحة عامة، وباحثين، وممثلين عن منظمات دولية وشركات أدوية ومستلزمات طبية. وتخلل الحفل استعراض لأهداف المؤتمر ومحاوره، إضافة إلى جولة رسمية في أجنحة المعرض الصحي الدولي المصاحب.

ويهدف المؤتمر إلى وضع رؤية موحدة لتعزيز الأنظمة الصحية في دول شرق أفريقيا، من خلال مناقشة عدد من التحديات المحورية، أبرزها: مكافحة الأوبئة والأمراض المزمنة، تطوير البنية التحتية الصحية، دعم البحث العلمي والتقنيات الحديثة في مجالي التشخيص والعلاج، إلى جانب تحسين التدريب والتأهيل للكوادر الطبية.

كما يتضمن الحدث معرضًا تجاريًا وصحيًا دوليًا، يُشارك فيه عدد من الشركات المحلية والإقليمية والعالمية العاملة في مجالات الأدوية، والمعدات الطبية، وحلول الصحة الرقمية، مما يوفر منصة نوعية لتبادل الخبرات، وبحث فرص الاستثمار، وإقامة شراكات تدعم تطوير الخدمات الصحية في جنوب السودان والمنطقة.

ويُجسّد افتتاح هذا الحدث الإقليمي الواسع على يد معالي الدكتورة جوزفين جوزيف لاقو حرص القيادة السياسية في جنوب السودان على بناء نظام صحي شامل ومتطور، ويؤكد عزم الحكومة على المضي قُدمًا في مسار التنمية المستدامة، عبر توسيع آفاق التعاون العلمي والصحي على المستويين الإقليمي والدولي.

Today and yesterday sessions, Hon. Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, the National Minister of Transport represents the delegation of South Sudan that came to attend the International economic forum in Russia.

The Hon. Minister also had a very fruitful meeting with Transport Minister of Russian Federation. In their discussion, the two Ministers focused on how to improves Transport System in the Republic of South Sudan. The Russian minister of Transport pledged to help South Sudan in the following areas; Railway, Road, and Aviation sector.

دعا وزير النقل في جنوب السودان، الدكتور لام أكول أجاوين، خلال منتدى سانت بطرسبرغ الاقتصادي الدولي 2025 إلى منح أفريقيا مقعدًا دائمًا في مجلس الأمن، مؤكدًا أن عدد سكانها يفوق أوروبا.
وفي جلسة حول العلاقات الروسية الأفريقية، تساءل أجاوين: لماذا لا تُمنح أفريقيا حق النقض (الفيتو) مثل الدول الأخرى؟
وشدد على أهمية احترام السيادة في التعاملات الاقتصادية مع أفريقيا، معتبرًا التبعية أحد أسباب تدهور علاقاتها الدولية.
وأضاف أن القارة بحاجة إلى التعليم لفهم واستيعاب التكنولوجيا الروسية، مشيرًا إلى أن ثلاثة من أعضاء مجلس الأمن الدائمين هم من أوروبا، بينهم روسيا.

Vice President Josephine Lagu Calls for the Dissolution of Tribal Associations in Universities

H.E. Josephine Joseph Lagu Yanga, the Vice President and Head of the Services Cluster has called for the dissolution of tribal associations in universities, describing them as entities that promote tribalism among students and fuel hatred in the country.

She referred to these sectarian associations as an unusual practice in public universities, emphasizing the need to review and put an end to them.

H.E Lagu made these remarks during an interfaith meeting on the country’s situation, expressing her frustration over such practices among South Sudan’s diverse communities. She stressed the importance of fostering activities that encourage peaceful coexistence.

Her comments come in the wake of concerns raised by activist Edmund Yakani, who recently warned about the rise of hate speech on social media among citizens following renewed violence in parts of the country.

دعت نائبة رئيس الجمهورية ورئيسة قطاع الخدمات جوزفين جوزيف لاقو ، إلى حل الجمعيات القبلية على مستوى الجامعات ، ووصفت تلك الجمعيات بانها تعزز القبلية بين الطلاب وتروج للكراهية في البلاد.
وأشارت الى تلك الجمعيات الطائفية بأنها ممارسة غريبة في الجامعات الحكومية ويجب إعادة النظر فيها وإيقافها.
وكان جوزفين لاقو تتحدث خلال إجتماع بين الاديان حول الوضع في البلاد ، وأعربت جوزفين عن إحباطها إزاء هذه الممارسة بين المجتمعات المتنوعة في البلاد، وشددت على الحاجة إلى أنشطة تشجع التعايش.
وتأتي تعليقات نائب الرئيس بعد أن أثار الناشط إدموند ياكاني مؤخرا مخاوف بشأن تصاعد خطاب الكراهية على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي بين المواطنين في أعقاب تجدد العنف في أجزاء من البلاد.

Who is David Amuor Majur, the newly appointed press secretary in the office of the president, Salva Kiir Mayardit?

David Amour Majur, nicknamed Amigo, is a former member of the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA).

He was born in Yirol in Lakes States and began his education in Ethiopia.

He trained with the Intifada Battalion in Bonga, Ethiopia, in the 1990s.

Amour is a member of the Red Army of Intifada, a term that translates to "uprising" or "shake-up" in Arabic.

In 2003, he joined Sudan Radio Services (SRS), which is now known as Eye Radio, where he became an essential part of the team.

His fluency in both Dinka, his mother tongue, and Nuer allowed him to effectively manage the Dinka and Nuer language desks, bridging communication gaps within the diverse communities of South Sudan.

David Amuor distinguished himself as one of the few South Sudanese journalists who covered the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) negotiations in Nairobi in 2005.

His insightful reporting contributed to public awareness and understanding of the peace process that ultimately led to South Sudan's independence.

After the signing of the CPA, Amuor transitioned from journalism to public service, taking a position within the government of South Sudan.

David Amuor has also served as a diplomat for many years at the South Sudan Embassy in Kampala, Uganda.

His diplomatic efforts have focused on strengthening bilateral relations and representing South Sudan's interests abroad.

David Amuor Majur is now the newly appointed press secretary in the Office of the President of the Republic, Salva Kiir Mayardit.

أصدر رئيس جمهورية جنوب السودان، الفريق أول سلفا كير ميارديت، قرارات رئاسية مساء اليوم، وتضمنت القرارات تغييرات في جهاز الأمن الداخلي والمكتب الصحفي برئاسة الجمهورية، وتم تعيين الفريق شارلس شيج مايور مديرًا عامًا لمكتب الأمن الداخلي التابع لجهاز الأمن الوطني خلفًا للمدير السابق الفريق أول أكيج تونق أليو.

وفي قرار آخر، أقال الرئيس سلفاكير السيدة ليلي أضيو مارتن من منصبها كسكرتيرة صحفية بمكتب الرئيس وتعيينها سفيرة جنوب السودان في جمهورية إثيوبيا الفيدرالية، وعيّن ديفيد أمور مجور خلفا لها في المكتب الصحفي.

SOUTH SUDAN OPPOSITION ALLIANCE (SSOA)

PRESS STATEMENT

SSOA Leadership Council has Withdrawn its Confidence in H.E. Hussein Abdel
Bagi Akol as Vice President Representing SSOA in the Presidency.

SSOA Leadership Council would like to inform the public that it has withdrawn its
confidence in H.E. Hussein Abdel Bagi Akol as Vice President representing SSOA in
the Presidency. It has communicated this decision to the appointing authority last
month. Therefore, H.E. Hussein doesn't speak for SSOA anymore,

SSOA is an alliance of eight political parties that together with other parties signed
the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South
Sudan (R-ARCSS) on 12 September 2018. Article 1.8.1 of R-ARCSS, stipulates that
there shall be four Vice Presidents during the transitional period. Article 1.8.2.5
defines the powers, functions and responsibilities of the four Vice Presidents.
1.8.2.6.2. specifies hat the Service Cluster is chaired by the Vice President
nominated by SSOA. Article 1.8.3 states that should the position of any of the Vice
Presidents fall vacant for any reason, the replacement shall be nominated by the
respective party that nominated the person in the first place,

These provisions of R-ARCSS are crystal clear, and we appeal to the public not to be
unduly worried about the rumours being circulated by those who think they can
manipulate the institutions of the revitalized agreement to their narrow interests.
