President Kiir suspended first vice president Dr riek Machar and petroleum minister Puot Kang from their positions on presidential decree today pending a court case against them.
The suspension comes following ministry of justice press conference were the government charged Machar and Puot including other SPLM/IO officials of murder, conspiracy, terrorism and financial terrorism, treason, destruction of properties and military assets and crimes against humanity after investigating on Nasir incident of 3-7 March 2025.
The other charged SPLM/IO officials are Lt. Gen. Gabriel Duop Lam, Mr. Mam Pal Dhuor, Mr. Gatwich Lam Puoch, Brig. Gen. Camilo Gatmai Kel, Mr. Mading Riek Yak and Mr. Dominic Gatrgok Riek.
The Investigation Committee interrogated 83 suspects of which 21 individuals have been indicted, 8 are under arrest and charged, 13 accused remain at large and 76 individuals were discharged due to lack of sufficient evidence against them.
